Free Music for Dreamers by Clyde Machine

I take it musician's can post their musical works in the Artist's Corner? Cool.

Alright, I've got a lot of music online, and I believe I can safely say that all of it is up for free downloads. Yup, there are only probably one or two that I haven't released yet that'll be going up in the next few months, but other than that, it's all free for you to listen to and download! Some of the songs are very dreamer-oriented, even though I didn't originally compose the pieces to be like that, so I'll list those here, and the others that are just general music I've made I'll mention, but those links will be on my site, found at this link. Hope you find something you like! Leave feedback, tell your friends, tell your dream characters and dream guides if you like!

Music that might interest dreamers and LDers:
::Creation of the Universe: (The Big Bang/First Drops of Water) - also available in the "Genesis" exhibit #8 on www.theluminarium.net.
::S.F.A. (Text Art with Caffeine) - a piece that might relax you, and might inspire you.
::Disconnected From the World - inspirational, you might find use for this in creating dream scene ideas.
::Julia's Autumn Coat - very relaxing.
::Narrative Theme - probably more inspirational than relaxing, with nice loud orchestra sounds.
::Expediated Day - lol, you weren't expecting this one after listening to the others listed here! This is inspirational for very exciting, very action-laden dream scene ideas.

Those are just some of the tracks I have, those that I thought might appeal to those looking for music they can think about dreaming to, and others to relax you. I hope something catches your eye and your ear. Let me know what you think, I'm always making new music and love to hear feedback!

Personally, I think the only piece that even comes close to being relaxing is Julia's Autumn Coat.

      Thanks for sharing.

What kind of things do you listen to as inspiration for this kind of music?

I listened to each of the songs and they all feel a bit repetitive and not very juicy (if you know what I mean). I also might reccommend uploading your music to www.newgrounds.com to send it out easier. There's also ranking, if you care about that.

My feedback may come off as a bit too critical, but I just see significant room for improvement. Anyway, here are my comments for each piece:

Creation of the Universe - I like the melody that starts around 1:12. The cymbals are a little loud for that part though.

S.F.A. - The rhythm in this is too aggressive for the piece to be relaxing. The melody is alright, but the rhythm moves it away from having a relaxing tone.

Disconnected From The World - The guitar soundfonts in this could use with less distortion. Overall, it feels very noisy and repetitive.

Julia's Autumn Coat - Nice, gentle, piece. Could do well with a little more variation or if it was shorter, as it gets a bit repetitive at times.

Narrative Theme - Has a lot of bass for something so light. Otherwise, not much to say

Expediated Day - Pretty whacky. Sounds like you were mostly just messing around.

I draw information from a lot of different places and things, not just music, not just images, not just experiences. I'm assuming "this kind of music" is to imply instrumental music? Since I'm a guitarist, I really love listening to Steve Vai and his style of music, mostly instrumental and very expressive.

Your feedback is welcome; I've heard many times over that the music I make is great, and while praise is always good, it helps to have a critical ear take a listen to my music and give their thoughts. In this way, I welcome your comments and assume good faith when reading them. (You wouldn't have listened to each and typed your analysis of them if you didn't care, right?)

A few replies to your comments:
I saw another mention that S.F.A. isn't all that relaxing. This piece I found had a certain kind of odd relaxing element to it; it's not relaxing in the way that I would listen to it while lying in my bed at night, but it's not exactly an upbeat ragefest of a song either.

Disconnected was indeed recorded using a metal-based distortion sound on my guitar, and needed it in my mind, to show that out of a slightly noisy and chaotic sound could come control in an audible form. That was my first "full-length" song.

Julia's Autumn Coat was mostly an improvisation session for me, and as such does have a few moments of repetition. I've never thought of that repetition as a bad thing, but as an element that adds to the relaxing aspect of the piece as a whole.

Narrative Theme indeed was meant to sound big with the immense bass tones used in it.

Expediated Day started as a little project that took a very different and unexpected "speedcore"-style direction. I can see how it may be perceived as me just messing around, but that's not to say that I didn't put thought and theory into practice when composing the parts. I like this one for its wild personality. If you've ever used electronica-style programs, some of the virtual instruments I used in this will sound like I used arpeggiators on them - nope, did it all myself.

Thank you for the input on the works, it's great to hear new thoughts expressed on the pieces from an unbiased listener.

XD Thanks man. Hope you like what you hear; if you like them, let me know, if you think they could use improvement, don't be shy.

Hahahah, yeah, as I said before some of the works are a little relaxing, and in a way other than you might be thinking of it. I think Julia's Autumn Coat is the obvious ultimate relaxing song of the selections I posted. You're welcome for the music, thanks for commenting and for listening.

Yeah, Expediated is by no means a relaxing song. Only some of the songs are relaxing in any respect.

Thanks for the feedback; Julia's Autumn Coat clocks in at 5:16, so if you're not used to longer songs then that'll be a long one. However, it is to relax you. Hope you enjoyed it nonetheless!
