Tell me about Self-Discipline & Motivation

Both of those I've been severely lacking, and it frustrates me to no end. I find myself consistently procrastinating and putting off doing thing that matter and screw around instead.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems/has overcome them? Some advice would be helpful.

I would like to know the answer to this too. I am just like you, I can do something if I just do it, but if I put it off once, it usually doesn't get done for quite some time.

I've experienced the same problems myself, and I've found that starting off with simple, small tasks that take a little chunk out of the mountain (like cleaning up your room just one sock at a time) motivates you to at least start (or just try). Of course you're going to be overwhelmed if you keep looking at the big picture and decide that you can't do it all. Planning by writing your priorities down on paper also clears and organizes your mind so that you can really focus, and check them off the list.

Also, a technique I've been using is convincing myself that this is just a short "test run" or "experiment" when I just start trying things out to break the ice, not taking things too seriously or raining down on myself with pressuring expectations, and eventually that gets me going. Take breaks every so often. Maybe between every 20-30 minutes you work, take a 5 minute break. Stretch, eat, relax. Then continue. Don't get distracted and take too long of a break, though. Or even just spent 60 seconds on it at first. You'll be motivated to go further.

As for motivation, the exhilaration of getting things done and over with is like no other. Even just getting yourself to start with the simple things you've been putting off, you feel confident, accomplished, proactive, and deserving of rewards. Your life just gets better.

Find a way to make it fun, too (if you can).

157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.
