Tell Me: Who here lives in my neighbour hood of BC, Canada (or Canada in general?)

I am always curious as to who lives here. Canada often is forgetten or in some cases not known of as we are thought to be apart of the US.

Where in BC (or Canada) do you live?

Me: I live in the lower mainland of Vancouver (city called Coquitlam) in Beautiful British Columbia!!

i must say i almost forgetted canada.

but it's just one of the 20something states of the US as far as I knows, amiright?

but good thread, it should not ever be forgetteted.

aaaaanyway... I don't live in Canada, sorry - different continent, but I couldn't resist the typos/spelling/grammar. But I'll be sure to visit!!

I live in Vancouver, in actual Vancouver, in the south-western region I guess. I find there seem to be more Canadians and non-Americans in general here than I'd expect on other places on the internet.

I get the feeling Americans consider themselves the normal people, and anyone who isn't American is some weird foreigner. But Canada is strange, because it's right beside America, especially where I live which is only about a 45 min drive from the border. I guess I do get that 'weird foreigner' feeling about anyone who isn't from the US or Canada.

I've been wondering if maybe non-Americans, maybe Europeans specifically, are more likely to be interested in lucid dreaming than Americans.

I've always found it weird that there's a country flag beside our names. I'm glad for the gender announcement, and I really wish there was an age one (anyone agree?), but 'country' has never seemed very important to me, not important enough to be right beside our names. This is probably better brought up in the meta forum. But I'm not going to do that, I'm sure the site designers have some good reason.

I never thought about it before; maybe we should be able to display our age under our avatars. It'd be much simpler than having to check someone's profile.

      Sorry for being off-topic, cndngirl.

Many North American place names are stolen from British ones, for obvious historical reasons. Did you know York is a British city?

I grew up in the lower mainland, Abbotsford to be specific.

I've spent a good deal of time in Vancouver around east hastings (long story), and in Coquitlam (lived in Minnekhada Regional Park for a while), and basically everywhere else in the lower mainland as well as a few scattered places in Northern BC. I've lived in Calgary and Lethbridge. And I've at least been to most other places in Canada.... haha... road trips rule.

edit: I just realized my 'avatar' is a pic I took while I was staying at francois lake. Beautiful place to visit. The drive up there was just about as beautiful as the place itself.

That's why I love Canada. Especially in BC (in my opinion) it's just absolutely beautiful where ever you go. That why I've driven all over BC, and this country. So many people take it for granted... I'll probably continue to travel around Canada for the rest of my life and still not see half the beauty that is out there. Feels good.

Howdy Vancouverites, I'm just below you in Richmond. I've probably seen some of you at some point, I travel around Vancouver with friends once in a while because Richmond is awful.

I was born in Saskatchewan, though.

I used to live in Richmond. My family moved to Vancouver about 3 years ago. I agree that Richmond is pretty bad. It felt so flat and cookie-cutterish, Vancouver is wild and hilly in comparison. While in Richmond I swear I could feel how low down we were, below sea level. Plus, I got sick of being a minority. The problem here is that it's so expensive, to buy or rent.

Why are there so many people who live in or near Vancouver? I'm used to being about the only one. In most 'places' online it seems like almost everyone is from the US.

Being a minority has never bothered me, I've got plenty of friends and we're all just Westernized kids regardless of where our parents were born. It would be nice to move to Vancouver though, but yeah, prices are wiggity whack. I plan on moving to Alberta instead.

Did you ever go to Tait Elementary or Cambie Secondary when you were in Richmond?

I didn't go to either of those schools. It's good that you're in that situation. I often had no friends growing up and can't help but think that was partly the reason. Good luck moving to Alberta.
