Tell me about the DV Logo

What is it?

To me, it looks like a capital "D" and a "V" tilted to the side. About the dot, I'm not sure but maybe it combines with the "V" to form a person? :P

It used to look like this:

Except it was stretched across the top. I can't seem to find that one. I kind of miss it.
