Tell me about Montreal

What are the best things to see and do?

Are there any old graveyards? Churches? Any super awesome old treasures or secrets or secret passageways and places to explore?

Walk around downtown. Tons of bars and places to party in the Sainte-Catherine area. Go to Old Montreal or the Old Port for old architecture and stuff. There's a gigantic cemetery on Mount Royal, you get a really nice view of the city from there too. On the west side of Mount Royal there's a big church called Saint-Joseph's Oratory, there are a bunch of others all over the city. Under downtown, there's a huge network of underground tunnels called the Underground City, but it's not really secret, more like a shopping mall... The Olympic Stadium and other facilities just east of downtown are impressive. There's the Biodome, lots of museums and art galleries... In summer there's La Ronde amusement park on Saint-Helen's Island.

There are also lots of different festivals and events depending on when you go.

Yeah depends on what you want to do. The two really famous churches are The St. Joseph Oratory, and the Notre Dame Basilica. The oratory is nicer.

Since it's gonna be cold if you're there in winter, definitely check out the underground (it's really a set of building basements downtown that are interconnected with tunnels, and filled with stores). According to wikipedia, it's the largest such thing in the world.

Night life is pretty damn amazing.

I think somewhere around the old port, there are ice sculptures, which are kinda nice.

I usually only go back (I grew up in Montreal) in the summer time, since that's when all the awesome festivals are around, and there's just more to do.
