Tell me if you've ever felt this way

For the past few years I've felt like someone is calling out to me. I don't hear anything, I don't know what it's about, I just feel like there's someone I need to find. It used to happen once every couple of months, I would get this feeling and the sudden urge to start running. These were the days I avoided going outside, I always felt that by the time I stopped I would be lost. I get lost very easily and I don't have any way to contact people to tell them I am.

It's changed in the past few months, though. Now I feel like I shouldn't run at all, and I should find them in my dreams. That if I close my eyes, they'll be there. The only problem with this is if I set myself up, expect something, it gets harder for me to sleep. I've always had insomnia and if I use pills to help it then it sort of defeats the purpose of trying to dream. Not that I can afford pills anyway, but that's hardly the point.

But that's hardly the point, does anyone else ever feel like this? It's always really confusing and I don't really know what to do or think about it. I feel like I have a message on my answering machine that I want more than anything to respond to, to call them back, but I can't because I don't know their number.

I don't often have lucid dreams, the harder I try it seems the further I fall behind, and when I do the control is very minimal and I lose it easily or just wake up. How can I find them if this what happens?

Are you more concern about finding the person or getting to sleep?

For the former, I usually have a feeling that I'm lacking someone if I'm overseas for a holiday.

It's sort of half and half, I worry that if I try I'll only fail and feel disappointed, but this is just a feeling in the back of my head. Something I should try to do but things always stand in the way.

The problem is that I've never been away from home. It feels like I've never met this person but I'm supposed to and I don't understand why.

Loneliness perhaps?

I think everyone feels lonely, I've been lonely long before I started feeling this way, but this doesn't feel like that. It's like I've forgotten something important I'm supposed to do and it revolves around them, if that makes any sense. I just wonder if anyone else feels like that.

Have you been in a relationship? Do you still feel this way if you are?

I've only ever been in a relationship once and I did feel the same way when I was.

If it isn't a girl you're looking for then it sounds like something spiritual. I don't have that feeling, I've already got someone in my mind.

I don't know the gender, or age of the person, though I don't think that the person feeling like a girl wouldn't be spiritual. I'm not exactly attracted to girls.

What I meant was if you are not sexually attracted to that person, it might be something spiritual.

It's always been about wait and see, I won't know until I can find whatever it is, or someone who shares that feeling.

I've got a feeling you wouldn't find that person, because that feeling has grew into something so unique, you wouldn't get it from anyone in the mortal world.

I only mean someone who has had the same sort of feeling, someone who understands what it's like when you think there's someone or something out there trying to find you. I don't expect to find any one person who will suddenly change my life, just a person or two who share a feeling similar perhaps. I don't really have any expectations of this feeling, I would just like to know what it is and if I'm alone in feeling it.

I know you wouldn't be alone. We have all sorts of people on DV and all sorts of people in the world.

In all seriousness, I've never heard of a psychological issue like that but it may be on the rare side. You could try doing some research to figure out if such a disorder really exists.

I highly doubt it's a disorder, just a simple feeling that I'm wondering if anyone else has felt it too. I've never worried over it, never had any specific need or what have you to actually act on it. The feeling is gone today, it never lasts all that long and it only comes once or twice every couple of months. I've been looking it up, but I can't find the right words to describe it, but I do wonder why it would have to be a psychological issue just because I get this feeling every so often...

It doesn't have to be but if you found out that it was, you would know two things. The first is you're not alone (which you probably aren't, I'm sure plenty of people get that sensation) and the second is that it's possibly a neurological issue. This would help you cope with it when it comes because you'd realize you don't actually have to find anyone, you're just feeling the sensation because you've got a couple cross wired neurons. I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, maybe there is something more to it. But maybe there isn't.

If it is something like that I'd rather feel alone than know, having that feeling and knowing there's no one out there for you to be finding is really sad. It would just make you more lonely.

I don't get that feeling... but I do always have a lingering feeling that I'm supposed to be learning something really obvious... and everyone/everything is sending me hints and messages 24/7, but I'm too stupid to figure out what it's trying to tell me. So I'm always looking... for what??? I don't know.

That's kind of similar to what you described

Seems pretty similar to me, even if the thoughts aren't the same it looks like the feeling is huh?
