The best thing to do is chew on ice, whether cubed or crushed. It'll cool you off internally (versus externally like those other methods) and then even a hundred-degree day is tolerable. |

Okay, so I live in central New York where the average summer temperature is only 80 degrees or so (Fahrenheit, mind you) and I consider that sweltering. What I love about where I live is the winters and how much snow we get. I love the cold and anything over 70 I consider hot. My favorite weather is about 20 degrees and preferably not sunny, hopefully snowing. I know a lot of people who live down south where it is consistently in the 90s and often over 100 and I have no clue how they deal with it. Our house is normally in the 70s during the summer and if it gets over 80 outside it pushes 80 inside. We have the AC on a bit but not a lot and my family doesn't want it turned down at all |

I usually went nocturnal whenever I had to deal with a heatwave. But I consider everything under 110 to be tolerable. |

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
I used to ride my bike to work all the time, and the summers here can get into the high 90's and sometimes over 100. On really hot days I finally decided to quit screwing around, and I just soaked my shirt down with cold water before leaving for work. It worked like a charm! |

I second that. Even cool water will help, since it's cooler than your body, it absorbs some of the heat. |
|
I like my weather under freezing temperatures to a minimum of -20 degrees celcius. But up to 25 degrees celcius I'm ok and unless I'm swimming, 30 and up is hell for me. |

Whatever happens~
Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'll have to try the ice cube one since that sounds the easiest and most reasonable, but today's only like 70 so it's not bad. Weather forecast says mid 80s to low 90s all throughout the week though so I guess I'll get my chance xP |

If ice is not readily available, get a piece of mint sweet. Your water will instantly be cool when you drink it with the sweet in your mouth. |

.. Or you could always follow the old adage - in order to deal effectively with the heat, remove yourself from the immediate vicinity of appliances producing it while they are being used to prepare meals. Not sure I quite got the wording right on that... |

Immerse yourself in the heat. The best way to beat it is to... get used to it. I live in southern Indiana (literally next to the Ohio River, I can see Kentucky from where I live) and work for the City Hall, mostly weed eating and mowing. I used to find heat intolerable, but this summer has been one of the hottest on record here (been in the 100s consistently and also at least 80% humidity for the last 2 or 3 weeks) and I've found it surprisingly easy to deal with, despite being in the heat all day long. The more I've been in it, the easier it's become. The jogging idea actually wasn't too bad. Do some exercise for a while out in the heat and really get sweating and then go inside. Goddamn you'll be appreciative of what you feel once inside, let me tell you, lol. |
