This forum was made for people to exchange real life ideas in order to disseminate otherwise unknown information. The supplied form is: ask/tell question/me about.
Perhaps you have yet to fully grasp my idea...I will answer any question, about any subject regardless of topic. You might not know where my answers come from, but they will arrive no doubt.

      Good topic!

The essential idea behind a train is to transport a large amount of material at once. This cuts costs in many areas because energy consumption is reduced. Before there were trains on rails, people would make wagon trains also known as caravans. Traveling in these trains had several advantages. There was increased protection, help in case of injury or mechanical failure, and the payload could be redistributed if needed.
In the 18th century in Europe, the industrial revolution was getting underway. People began using rails and horse drawn cars to transport goods short distances. At the tail end of the 18th century the steam engine was developed. It was then fitted onto a carriage to be used in the Scottish mining industry.

"On 21 February 1804 the world's first railway journey took place as Trevithick's unnamed steam locomotive hauled a train along the tramway of the Penydarren ironworks, near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales."

In contrast to the independent steam engine, this used a railway system in conjunction with the steam power.

By the mid 19th century, rail transport had become the ideal means by which to move about goods. In just 60 years from the locomotives invention, Britain had constructed over 10,000 miles of railway. In the USA, the story was the same just with longer distance. By 1890, the USA had built over 160,000 miles of railway.

As time progressed, so did the rail transportation industry. Despite some initial setbacks mostly in construction costs, and logistical troubles, rail transport has become a leading economic driver.

"In the 1950s, the U.S. and Europe moved roughly the same percentage of freight by rail; but, by 2000, the share of U.S. rail freight was 38% while in Europe only 8% of freight traveled by rail.[3] In 1997, while U.S. trains moved 2,165 billion ton-kilometers of freight, the 15-nation European Union moved only 238 billion ton-kilometers of freight."

When I was younger, my parents wouldn't let me watch "secular movies" so I was only allowed to watch "inspirational or educational" material. So, I had my mom buy me a bunch of documentaries. Some on WWII, some on nature, and even some on trains.

I remember one video saying that critics of trains initially thought the metals wheels would just spin on the metal tracks. That was until they realized that trains are uber beasts and the sheer force of weight keeps the wheels spinning.
It does tend to happen when the train is first starting...as seen here: Oliver Cromwell (wheel spin ) & moveing out of Bedford Midland Road Station - YouTube

New technology has replaced the old steam engine, although it dominated all of industry for the good part of a century. First, diesel engines were developed, then electrically powered locomotion was invented. After that, magnetically power trains were built. Each variation has its advantages and disadvantages, yet they continue to improve.

Some trains in Europe, Japan, and China run on maglev tracks.

"With maglev a vehicle is levitated a short distance away from a guideway using magnets to create both lift and thrust. Maglev vehicles are claimed to move more smoothly and quietly and to require less maintenance than wheeled mass transit systems. The highest recorded speed of a maglev train is 581 km/h (361 mph), achieved in Japan by Central Japan Railway Company's (JR Central) MLX01 superconducting maglev in 2003,[5] 6 km/h (3.7 mph) faster than the conventional wheel-rail speed record set by the TGV.[6]"

This seems to be the future of passenger train travel. In the USA, there are plans underway to build a trans-continental high speed railway. At 300mph, you could cross the country in a single days ride. It is somewhat slower than air travel but much, much more sensible and cost effective.

This is very similar to a philosophical argument made for god. It goes like this: By definition, god is perfect, then he would naturally possess all the qualities that make something perfect. Existence is a quality that must be had to be perfect. Therefore, god exists....

To exist is to say that there is a possibility of non-existence. Basically, we must define existence because if it means being aware of being, then we can easily answer the question.
On the other hand, if we are speak as if there is no possibility of non-existence, for which I think an argument can be made; then we can get somewhere.

Short Answer: Because there are two opposing forces in the universe which create all subsequent opposing forces. This separates the unity, effectively creating existence. Without another, one would not have anything with which to compare itself; therefore, one would not exist because non-existence would not be an option.

I think the true answer to my question is somewhere in your part about nonexistence not being a possiblity. It has something to do with that. The problem with answering the question is that cause is a form of existence, so any cause you can suggest raises the question of what caused it. The impossiblity of nonexistence, because nonexistence by definition doesn't exist, doesn't have to have a cause. It is the one place I think clearly qualifies as at least the foundation for the answer. My brain continues to be tied in knots over this after decades of it. I love the issue, though.

The only problem is that one can come to the conclusion that reality is all in our head. And it is true that it is subjective but reality has been here longer than us.

or maybe cause and effect is just an illusion?

Are the heads reality is in real?

Maybe the only cause that is real is the cause of the illusion of cause and effect.

      Man-kinds survival

Do you think we can progress enough technologically to achieve interstellar travel (and thus populate/terraform viable planets) within the next 50-1000 years?
Do you think we can achieve it before earth is rendered inhabitable (either in changes of temperature, nuclear war, zombie apocalypse ect.)
Which will come first: Us discovering intelligent alien life, or them discovering us?
      Slip inside my head
Watch how my dreams unfold, watch my fantasy in work
Watch the beauty, watch the details. Isn't it amazing?
I love you, and I welcome you into my world
If you are lucky, there will be music playing.

      1. yes.
"The World in 2030" by Dr. Michio Kaku - YouTube
Technology is expanding at an unbelievable rate. Many of the problems we have created with our old technologies can and will be fixed by new technologies.

      2. Alien life has already discovered us. Our solar system is much much younger than most of our galaxy. Even if they haven't landed here, they have probably been listening from afar. The building blocks for life on earth were transported by space objects outside our solar system. The possibility for life in other places is astronomically high.

In 1 Sentence: The mathematics of probability...

Its based upon the observation that light is both a particle and a wave. Light produces a wave field of infinite possibility until observed. At that point, the light is a particle with a determined destination.

The ocean creates infinite wave patterns as the water sloshes onto the shoreline. However, while there are infinite wave patterns in the ocean, the result of those patterns can only be observed when the wave interacts with the shoreline. Before that, its just probability...and that is life...
