What kind of nerd do you mean? What mutual interest? How well do you know each other? If you ask me, your best bet is to keep it low profile on the first date, a coffee shop/cafe or something small and cute like that. The main part should be interacting with one another. Unless you are specifically looking to busy yourselves with an activity..?
What kind of nerdy? There are so many different subtypes of "nerd" that it isn't even funny. What's your mutual interest, what's she into?
Honestly, Xox's tip of going to a "normal" date place is probably the best bet, and use the things she's into as conversation material.
A restaurant that serves alcohol is always the best place to go on a first date, if you are old enough to drink and it's something you do. Just make sure you take a cab. Also, don't get so drunk that you lose all focus. That is very important. Drinking together breaks the ice majorly. On the second date, I think you should take her to something intellectual and aesthetic like a symphony orchestra performance or an intellectual movie.
I disagree for me personally, though some people would probably find a little alcohol helpful I think cafes are better because it's typically quieter and more relaxed. Besides, you can always put some whiskey in your coffee.
