Have any LDers ever had a near death experience (NDE)?

I was wondering if there are any lucid dreamers who have also had a near death experience. What I am mainly interested in is a comparison between the two experiences. I know this is a bit open ended, but I am just curious. Anything that anyone would like to share would be much appreciated.

Goodness, this thread's been out here for a long time. I was hoping there'd be more posts here so I didn't seem like such a lone wolf. :p I didn't see a tunnel of light, per se, but this is definitely the closest to death I've ever been. I hope you don't dissaprove of me posting this here.

Yes, I have been very close to death. We live on a cattle farm. Once when I was maybe ten or so we needed to load up cows into a trailer to take them into town to sell. We rounded the cows into a corral. My father was on the tractor with a big trailer hitched to it. He said as backing it up to the chute we would herd the cows through. I was in the chute, making hand motions and telling him how close the back of the trailer was to the end of the chute. It got about a foot away from the chute, and I motioned to him that it was at a good distance and that he should stop. He did. Since I was no longer needed to direct, I decided to get out of the chute, so I slipped between the trailer and the chute. Suddenly, my father, who didn't know I was there, started backing up the trailer again, pinning my head between the trailer and the metal frame of the chute. It actually didn't really hurt, but I could hear my skull cracking from inside my head. If my grandfather hadn't been there watching and yelled at my dad to stop, my head would have been crushed. Another quarter of an inch would have killed me.

They pulled the trailer away, and helped me into the truck. My vision became yellow-tinted. I had blood running down my shirt. I asked if I would have to go to the doctor and they said no. I've never mentioned this to any medical professional, and to this day I have no idea of I sustained any lasting damage. I did, however, receive a bald spot on the left side of my head where I was pinned. I still have the scars.

Hope that wasn't too long winded. :p I just saw this thead and thought I'd post. YAAAAAAAAAYY!!!!!!!! I'M ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD

I had my breathing and heart stop for what seemed like forever, combined with sickening pain in my solar plexus, loss of vision, and then crazy visuals if that counts... The visual effects were kind of like looking at the sun with my eyes closed, combined with a kaleidoscope, a feeling of floating, and lots of pain.

The similarities between what I experienced then and in lucid dreams were that my mind deeply effected my experience. More specifically, my beliefs of what was going to happen, and what I thought about that, resulted in either bliss or pain. I managed to go back and forth between the two a dozen or so times, and my physical sensation adjusted to match it. The blissful feeling for me was like that feeling I get when I first become lucid, only stronger. Another similarity, is that in each situation, I was strongly focused on the present moment of 'what is happening to me right now, or in the next two seconds.' There was also a strong sense for me of 'Everything I am now experiencing is going to disappear very soon.' as it was clear each of those experiences wouldn't last into tomorrow.

I bet there would be a lot more similarities between the two had I actually died then and there. But that goes waaaaaay off topic from the realm of experiences and into speculation. Anyway, we'll all find out soon enough right? As a dying grandfather once told his daughter, "I now see that in the light of eternity, there is no difference between one moment and one hundred years"

Not sure if this counts as a NDE, but my brother almost drowned me once. He was just being an idiot and showing off to his friend.

How did it compare to lucid dreams? Did you notice any similar sensations or concepts?

I almost got killed in a road accident when I was a little child near my house. My neighbour drove his motorcycle in a ridiculous speed and he almost hit me like damn, so close.

I'm not sure if this one qualifies or not. Before the dream, I was sleeping outside in a cold breeze for some minutes. I then got back up and went to bed.

So, once I was in a dream I dreamed that another of me replaced me. I then went into a dream within a dream, into this... Really really weird world that I wasn't supposed to be in. It didn't end until I prayed, then I went back through the first dream and woke.

Once during a controlled relaxation when lying in the bed I felt a strange state where it was like my astral body or mind or whatever was slowly being separated from the physical body, I had a feeling that if I continue I would never come back to my body so I intentionally stopped this. Maybe it was just a fear with no reason, but it was an interesting experience.

      Just a prank bro!!

I first must ask what constitutes a near death experience? Does serious injury have to be involved? And/or stopping of vital signs? Or do near misses of something that would almost definitely kill you do it?
