Tell Me About Meditation

Lately, I every now and then meditate. Or something similar to it, I do not fully understand it. For instance, what are good ways to in a proper state of mediation, and does only thinking about your breathing also count as 'having cleared your mind'. I find the whole mantra/focus on breathing and the 'think about nothing at all' parts slightly contradictory.

If anyone has any good advice, knowledge or would like to tell us about the time he/she levitated off the ground, feel free to tell us.

That's because they are contradictory :). There are many different kinds of meditation. I personally like the mindfulness (vipassana) meditation as it works towards cultivating, well.. mindfulness, instead of just being a tool for relaxation. Although I don't know much about other forms of meditation, I'm sure they're all beneficial.

I found this book very helpful in helping me understand the reasons for, and the practise of meditation (full text is online). Also "Wherever you go, there you are" by John Kabat-Zinn is a great book/audiobook on the subject, approaching it from a clinical point of view. You could probably find it on the internets, if you're sneaky.

meanwhile, what is the difference between mindfulness and mind-blank-ness meditation? Is it the same as trans... blabla meditation and the.. other form?

Im starting to meditiate also, im wondering if meditation before WILD could be benificial.

I must first learn how to WILD normally though :-)

as far as i&#39;ve ever understood meditation, the point is to:
yes, clear you mind -but not to a blank... the only way i can explain it is to say, imagin that the mind is like some kind of circuit board... obviously the fewer connections the stronger each one will be, and the quicker and more efficiently it will function.
i mean, one could meditate with the goal of having a silent mind, because that&#39;s actually quite difficult to do for most, and, in my humble opinion, is verry good for a mind to experience now and then.
i&#39;d say to start meditating with a clear mind, then open it up to focus on as much of the current sensory input as possible, including your breathing. try to hear, and be aware of everything without dweling on it, or trying to think too much about it, just be aware that something is going on. dont try to name the sounds you hear, dont try to count your breaths.
i also dont think there is any other way to induce a WILD than through meditation... how the hell else are you supposed to &#39;fall asleep, and be aware of it at the same time&#39;?

Actually, Meditation is all a bit exaggerated. Then should call it &#39;stfu for ten minutes, asshats&#39; instead of &#39;meditation&#39;.

I think I can't meditate. I'm trying meditation lately, but ... I don't know how to explain this.
I just burst into laughter at some point. This makes me feel better of course, and relaxed, but the meditation is spoiled inevitably. The most crazy thing is that I cannot tell what might be so funny and what I'm laughing at.
I've always considered meditation to be a serious thing and don't know why it happens to me. The more I'm trying to remain serious, the more ridiculous it gets, and I only laugh, laugh in the end. First, I practised this on my own and thought that I'm wrong, or am just mistaken about some aspects of meditation. Then tried those guided meditations, but the result is the same. Strange, this laughter occurs even when I'm angry or anxious and am trying to calm down. Why don't I cry, for example? Or just clear the negative emotion like other people do through meditation?
I think that I can achieve a meditative state when I'm physically active, at least it feels like this. When I run in the morning with the dog, my mind drifts away somehow, while I move my legs automatically, and this experience is much closer to the state I aim at in meditation.

There is such thing as a Laughing Meditation, you know. You gotta find what works.

And meditation is never a serious thing. It's time you take to leave behind time for a moment or two.

Meditation can be a gateway to many experiences. To meditate one has to quiet the mind and breath in an dout deeply and slowly. Often during meditation people feel deeply relaxed.

While meditating people can have what is known as visions and experience messages from thier brains. While meditating people can become unable to move, due to thier bodies falling asleep. Meditation can be used to enter lucid dreams, in a technique known as WILD.

After meditating people feel much more rested. People also experience odd things like hearing voices, which is meerly hypnotic hallucination, feeling like they are vibrating and being picked up. People can also feel a sudden jerk, as if they fell.
