Aye, I think you'll need to be a bit more specific about what you want to learn.
Photoshop is quite...obese, hahah.
I started by going through the turorials on sites like this.
Thanks for the link, Rob.
I also have CS2, and I even bought the Adobe Classroom in a Book to try to learn it, but I got to the part about extracting images and stopped there because that was so cool to practice.
My problem is that when I want to do something in Photoshop, it's hard for me to explain to other people what I'm trying to do, and hard for them to walk me through it in text.
Let me ask you Photoshop pros - like Merlock and others - how did you learn Photoshop? And how long did it take you to get to the knowledge level you are at now?
^
well i consider myself a bit proish too, my fathers been into photography tens of years, i been doing it almost since i was born.
We had photoshops since 2.0 , my father has a huge variety of photoshop books too, I'm too stubborn to read em though, i always want to learn stuff by myself, specially with photoshop "what does this button do!?"
Well, it's been several years now since I've been at it. Though doing great things in Photoshop requires not just knowledge of the software but creativity, imagination.
Though as far as the software, it pays to be curious. Tutorials might be good for a start but in the end the one way to gain most experience and learn what it is you need from Photoshop is to use it yourself, poke around, use the different functions it provides.
And, all in all, it's a good idea to work on a need-to-need basis. That is, if you, say, need fiery text on a banner. Say you've learned how to do some fading effects already and made the banner background but need fiery text. So you go and find a tutorial for a fiery text effect online. In following it, you won't just learn one more effect to add to your collection but you might very well learn about different Photoshop functions you hadn't known before.
