Dress yourself with confidence, and the fabrics on you won't matter.
Who do you think decides what's cool in the first place? ;)
the general public...
You want to look good for the public?
Well, I see you're a male, and don't know your tastes...so I dont have much advice to give.
Depends on what look you're trying to achieve and where you live.
Just pop your colla every 2 minutes while out in public.
Get good and drunk, then you'll be as cool as can be. Or at least you'll think you are, and have no idea that you're not.
Or, you could just be yourself, and not give a damn what the general public (who also tend to be generally wrong) think. That's what I do, and it's working great for me.
Do you want to be hot and attrack girls, boys, or both?
If you want emo bitches, dress emo. If you want gothic bitches, dress gothic. If you want hot bitches, dress hot. Time for you to figure out what looks good though. I don't give advice.... more poon for me.
To be cool, first you have to lack imagination and intelligence. Then just conform with what everyone else is doing. It's pretty easy.
As a male, your clothing style is mostly irrelevant, as long as it's clean and fits your body, age and personality.
Shakespeare-style neck-ruffs are coming back into fashion, get one before the rest of the population turn it mainstream.
Current style types:
- Emo: go to hot-topic and buy just about anything there.
- Punk: see above but add more chains and take away the lousy hair-do. You also can cut down the piercings. Pretty much a held back emo.
- Gangster: Wear pant sizes that are about your actual size +5, make sure they are jeans, wear a sports jearsey (make sure it's baggy as well), wear lots of jewellry, piercings not a big thing but tattoo's certainly help. Most importantly, walk like you just sneezed and hold your hand there (in the cupping the nose position), then pretend like there's something stuck to your hand that you can't get off and keep trying to wave it off, and finish it off as though you just broke the knee of one of your legs.
- College Student: Pretty much restrict your budget to $20 per article of clothing and you will find yourself dressing as a college student. Unless you splurge and buy a college representative piece of clothing. A popular one for girls is to wear sweatpants, uggz, and sweaters.
- Formal: see justin timberlake.
- Rock: similar to emo and punk but try and restrict yourself to 1 piercing and 1 tattoo, anymore could be problematic. Focus on dark colors and avoid brand names on the clothing. Jeans that are just 2 sizes bigger than actual is good, metal around the belt is essential. Further, leather jackets are okay and celtic designs are acceptable as long as it blends in with the color of the shirt.
- Bum: take your curtain, roll it in some dog turds, and then try your best to wear it.
Which type do you feel you fall into it...?
~
Just put some self worth in yourself and dress how you would like to look, and if people don't like it they can suck your balls. Fashion is nothing more than how you present yourself to the world, and guys that dress to fit in don't get the girls, it's guys that dress to fit themselves that do.
O'nus.. great post (and love your new Xmas avatar)! :D
I know, transform into me!
If you wanna dress like the "norm" or whatever, go into a shopping mall and look at what the mani.. manikckcc... :o oh boy, I don't know how to spell that word. Go into a mall and look at what the fake plastic people are wearing.
Pop your fucking collar.
-Black loose shirts + being hot + cool hair
-WIN
??????
-Profit.
I'm the most stylish guy around.
I dress like the Fresh Prince, and I get all the ladies.
Plus, my mother thinks I'm quite handsome.
Apparently he lost step 3.
If you're just going out to the mall/movies/whatever for no special occasion then don't go to too much trouble. The way I see it is that there is a slim to no chance of seeing these people again and even less of a chance that people are looking specifically at you and actively judging what you're wearing so why try and impress them. I've worn the same black jeans, black t-shirt every saturday for as long as they've fit me and not a single person cares
