Tell me about how the generation of people born after say 1985 or so (give or take a couple of years) is going to make this planet better.
This includes me, yay! :D I automatically thought of the upcoming generation as people born in 2005 or so. :P
Make it better? Well what I can say about us is that we were too pampered while growing up. This means that we now take longer than ever to figure out what we want to do in life, we demand respect at work from our superiors, we think we deserve the best in everything, we are expected to have shorter life spans than our parents, and we live at home as long as possible. :goodjob2:
Yes I know there are many exceptions to this. But this general trend has been discovered.
I suppose the good thing about Americans of this generation at least is that we are not impressed by people's origins. I think this leads to more acceptance of differences than the previous folks.
By having better grammar lol.
I have no idea, except if you think we are where we are today based on the stoners from the 70s then the next generation cannot really do much worse! I don't really know, I think the adopted attitude of not caring to make it a better place since what damage we do now, will not have too much an impact on us; since we will not be here to suffer the effects.
In honesty I really dont know...
Yeah pretty much!
I think there may be more clashes with groups of people who have remained really conservative. I think those groups will be pretty affected by this and the following generations.
That really depends on your definition of 'better' and how willing you are to accept massive generalizations.
For my part, I'm going to try to join up at the front lines of our understanding of the human brain. There are questions to be answered, diseases to be cured, and improvements to be made. I just can't decide which excites me the most :)
I dont know...but Im going to try to stop Global warming!
Save the Polar Bears!
I already know the solution to that. Import all surviving polar bears into the Zoos of Canada and America and legally change their names to 'Urban Bears'.Quote:

Very bad indeed.
i thought it was fantastic.
I lol'd.
To put it bluntly, they probably won't. They'll end up making it worse. Trust me, I've grown up with these people.
I dunno. Maybe the same way previous generations have been fucking up the world. Or maybe one of us will slip and hit the button that detonates all the nuclear missiles in the world. Could be anything.
I don't think problems are ever really solved. It's just technology gets better.
If anything I'll probably be counter-productive to this generation. I'm getting a little tired of all the catch phrases ("intolerant", "bigot", "homophobe", "racist") that gets tagged on many undeserving people. I think Ray was right in "Fahrenheit 451" when he said the minorities would make everything null to the point of certain expressions being eliminated in order to appease all people all the time. Sum up: did I say I have a problem with minorities? No. I said I have a problem with appeasing every group all the time.
For example maybe some people see homosexuality as something to avoid if at all humanly possible. That person is not afraid of homosexuals and they don't' have ill will towards gays. It's a moral stance that happens to take a side against an action of a minority. Instead of that stance being respected (with due reason why) that person is seen as the scum of society and on them is tagged a name so no one will listen to them. Why is it that on many issues there is one voice that is heard, but the other is snuffed out with names?
I'm fucking sick of it.
We're so caught up in appeasing everyone, in making everything neutral that we stop looking at things as a two-sided debate and more of a "good vs. evil", "Monkeys" vs. "Rational" ordeal.
How am I going to make the planet better? With the way things are I feel like things are pretty much going one way like a tidal wave, and everyone's jumping on board. So to answer you: I have no idea.
Peace.
Well the 1960s revolution came about because reactions to communism, plus the invention of credit, and some other factors left not only a lot of children with parents ignorantly drowing in debt but also hard-core nationalism that made all the kids think their parents were turning into robots.
The same climate is around now, only much more insidious so it would be hard for this generation to break out of its shell and put an end to all this disasterous policy going on. But it'll happen.
These are wonderful! Thanks to all who replied.
I will make the earth a better place by having my armies of the undead flood the earth and kill everyone, thereby getting rid of world hunger, war, overfishing, the destruction of the rain forest and pollution. You will all bow down to my might  *evil laugh*
I mean by recycling and singing songs about the environment.
