... I wasn't aiming at "divine gravity," seriously. I just wanted to know of some of the theories out there. I'm curious.
Woah, this thread confuzed the shit out of me last night. Anyways...
We know/are finding out how gravity works. But you're asking why gravity exists, that's a philosophical question really, like any other "why" question. You're asking what is gravity's purpose, when in fact it has none. Purpose is just a human conception, while most things in the universe just are. Gravity just exists.
The bigger the planet, the more gravity pushes down on things. If you are on a really small planet, there won't be much gravity.
Gravity is the bane to my existence...
whatever it is, it hurts if you don't use it right :embarrassed:
Gravity is only a theory.
It should be noted that Intelligent Falling makes much more sense than gravity, and it is backed up by scripture. While physics still has problems explaining things on sub-atomic level, Intelligent Falling provides an elegant solution: It is only He who pushes things down to earth with the force of His almighty presence.

Here we see very clearly how God Almighty pushes water down some rocks:

Alternate theory:
Stuff gets lonely. Stuff seeks other stuff.
Simple. Elegant. Sexy.
More creepy than anything, I'd say.
No one really knows what gravity is actually...Its a mystery.
Scientits can tell you how it affects t hings and how it behaves...but what is the stuff made up of?
No one can really tell you.
I thought the common theory was that matter bends space...so its like bending the path way that an object follows...but not the object itself. Or something like this, i'm not certain. =( forgive me I don't really recall it was something I watched on television a year or so ago.
Your probably right, im just telling you what my science teacher said but apparently he doesnt keep up to date on new scientific resarech. I have to go ask him about that.
lol dont worry im not saying your wrong :(
My teachers are the most passionless people out there they'll tell you anything to avoid giving a long explanation -if they can avoid it that is.
My math teacher when we were doing this math problems said "you cant do it this way its impossible.....well actually its possible i just dont fell like tell you...youll find out about it next year"
lol this is what happens when you have underpaid teachers teaching you math at 8 in the morning.
"Gravitons." It's not really proven or anything yet though... or so I've heard.
