Tell Me the word I'm looking for

I don't even know if an accurate and percise word for this exist in the english language. Forgive me of my ignorance if it does. It could be compared to my understanding of the phrase "That's the way the cookie crumbles" or "this is how something happens given the nature of things."

The words destined/fated or enevitable(sp?) aren't precise to my understanding because I'm looking for a word to describe this in present tense-strange as it may sound.

edit- I realize as soon as I say a word like "destined" as something is happening(present tense) would work. I'm looking for something in the exact moment. Sorry if I'm not making any sense but it is sort of abstact.

From the phrase "this is how something happens given the nature of things," I think of words like inherent or intrinsic. If an object must undergo some process, that is if it is necessary, you could say that is an intrinsic property of the object.

So will inherent/intinsic work if I was describing evolution of proteins/ect becoming living organisms? Certain products will be more common existing than those that disappear in seconds.

Those that still exist give rise to more of their kind, while what doesn't vanishes. In the end it gives rise to chemicals being released in response to fear of death, This is the nature of things, the way the cookie cumbles.

Are you looking for a noun or an adjective?

I don't know. I really don't have any sort of application for this word yet, just it's idea. Maybe as in making the cookie crumble phrase into a single word, but still being used as a phrase.

For example I stack dominos beside each other and push the first one. As they fall in chains, I could say one word rather than the phrase.

I couldn't say it's destiny while watching the domino effect, because destiny is for past and future tense-accordingly to it's defintion. so yeah if it means in the present.

Not a well-know word but one nonetheless:

      Hap

      (noun)
      1. one's luck or lot.
      2. an occurrence, happening, or accident.

Although I think that fate sums it up. It need not be past-tense.

Not exactly the results I'm hoping for. Fate is the universal forces that determines events. It only works in the context because it gets meaning across- only because we don't have a more common precise word to associate with.

Also It sounds like it fits from it's defintion, but it sounds awkward to me when replacing the entire cookie phrase (present tense for functioning as a one word phrase.)

There's always going to be arguements over the exact meaning words have, especially when translating tricky words between languages. Words in the thesuarus may seem very similar but their are differences, right? I'm a native english speaker by the way. Words like "Kind" and "Caring". Very similar, but have subtle differences.

I know exactly what you mean here. A word's synonyms, while technically meaning the same thing, carry subtly (or, in some cases more than than subtly) different connotations. I'm not exactly sure of the word you're looking for here, but it will come to me in a bit, and when it does I'll post it.

Edit: I don't think there really is a word that wraps it up neat and nice, but here's a little list:
      • Happenstance - coincidence: an event that might have been arranged although it was really accidental
      • Kismet - fate, luck
      • Karma - The effects of a person's past actions on his or her present and future state. / literally 'action' but also the law of cause and effect; action and reaction

I think kismet applies best, just looking from my point of view at what you're trying to describe, but it's all a bit indeterminable.
