You also need to know that 2012 is not only about the Mayan calander ending. There are many other things that will supposedly end the world. Such as a super volcano erupting in Yellowstone (underground) and an...atom smasher thing I think that will supposedly cause a black hole when its turned on in, you guessed it, 2012!!!!! Its all crap though. No one knows or will ever know when the world will end except God. Either live in fear for the next four years, or actualy LIVE for the next four years and beyond and realize that it was all crap.

i vote to LIVE!!! i will be 22 in 2012.

2012 is really not an end-of-the-world scenario, anyway: more like, end of an era.

I believe the "atom smashing" thing you refer to is the Large Hadron Collider. Although I thought they were switching that on in this coming November, not 2012?

Yes, many Scientists say that an Ancient Mayan Prophecy says the world will come to an end. But I think they either have it wrong or, their purposely mis-informing the public about it. What I believe is that the world will go through a great change, and whether or not that change is good is up to us all. Now I saw on the History (lmao) Channel that the Mayans were visited by some guy, who said the world will end because of some Black Hole...something along the lines of that. Okay I can't give exact details because that was a few weeks ago. Er I like discussions like this but, I can't really gather my thoughts lol.

I've heard all this bullshit about the world ending on the 21, December, 2012, and I have proof that this is in fact, bullshit.

-Science has only been right about disaster predictions on very few occasions. Think about all of the false evacuations from towns under volcanoes.

-Everyone was shitting themselves just as much in 31 of December, 1999 over Y2K, but this theory was also entirely wrong.

-The Mayan calender ends 21/12/12 (please excuse me for my Australian date format), but this IMHO doesn't matter jack, my calender will certainly end on 31/12/12, but you don't see me bragging about that.

-The Apocolypse has already happened IMO and it failed to destroy humanity. The black death killed half the population of Europe, it was a knock on the head, but we're still okay right?

I'm sure many of you would agree that this is crap, as I do, and the people that do believe the end is coming, I do not want to change your beliefs, but I will be one of the people laughing when I wake up on 21/12/12 alive.

The reason people believe in the 2012 nonsense is that they're not satisfied with their own lives and they need to feel special. And being prophets of doom makes them special. It's as simple as that. And that is also why there will always be an armageddon 3-5 years down the road.

The Mayans didn't say we would die on that date or that it was The Apocalypse or Armageddon. How many times do we have to tell them this. It is calculated to be the day Kennedy's words are realized by the majority and acted upon.

I'd always thought that whenever I heard it, when I was growing up but now, I think something will happen in 2012. I also think sometimes, that we will go through some kind of evolution, but an evolution of the mind. (not sure if that makes sense to anyone...) Whatever happens in 2012, whether it's good or bad, is up to us, the People. But as long as we continue to be deceived by the very same people that we put our trust in.

21/12/2012 is gonna be an very intresting day IMO, whether the world ends or not

Here's my concrete (ie. FALSIFIABLE) prediction for Dec. 21, 2012. The Dow Jones, Nasdaq, and TSX will all either increase or not drop by more than 1% each by the closing bell of Dec. 21, 2012.

21/12/12 is going to be a terrible day because a lot of people will be flipping out... Since it's the last day of their lives, they might as well kill other people and cause destruction... I think that we'll be screwed over because of all the crazy people who believe in 2012 not because of the Mayans, a volcano or a black hole...

I would hazard a guess that many people have never heard of the 2012 prophecy, nor would care. It would be very ironic if that happened though.

Personally, I'm not seriously concerned over an impending apocalypse, and if one does happen, I guess it happens.

I'll keep my eyes open on that day, but I won't go to the extreme of moving to a farm in Africa, as some strong believers plan to do.
