Smile Tell me what do you call your parents?

When I refer to my parents, it's mom and dad.. but when I speak directly to them.. it's mama and daddy. I'm from Iowa originally so it may be a midwestern, girl thing.

What do you call your parents when you're speaking to them. Please select only one word for each parent and those who don't speak English to your parents, please try to find the closest English word.

Mum and dad to them. Sometimes "my mother" or "my father" in conversation.

Mom and dad, in all situations. Mother and father are kinda lame words in danish and they are hardly used.

It's not just a midwestern girl thing, I'm the same way. Mama and Daddy in person, usually reference them as my parents or my mother or father in conversation to someone else. It's a southern thing too.

I call my mom 'Mama' and I call my dad 'Baba'. I don't tend to use those when referring to them in conversation, though.

I've always called my mom mummy and my dad deed. My mom is mummy because thats what she called her mom so I guess thats what I was taught to call her and deed was probably because I couldn't say dad correctly or something when I was young and I just never changed that. I don't talk to them much anymore and if I do I usually don't call them anything. When I talk about them in conversation its always just mom and dad.

I usually call the mom and dad, if anything, when speaking to them directly. When talking about them to other people, it just seems weird, and I usually end up changing the posessive "my" to "m' " and mom to "m'm" or "mum," unless I happen to be using an accent that enunciates with particular clarity, in which case I do use "mom" in the 3rd person. I haven;t found any suitable 3rd-person replacements for the word "dad," but I occasionaly pronounce it "da' " when using a southern or extremely thick midwestern drawl.

note: I have no accent of my own. I spoke with near-complete monotony as a child, and only developed my current system of using different accents based on my current mood or language as I began to watch television more, and read more and more manga and books by british authors (most notably, Discworld and H2G2)

The whole title thing sickens me, no offence.
