There is program that allows you to watch movies and TV shows for free. The trial version allows you to make ONE account (per IP I guess) and download 4Gb of stuff.
I've used my 4Gb, and I want MOAR.
How can I change my IP? I have both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
I'm not a technical genius, so keep it simple.
I have Vista, in case that's important info.
This seems illegal and I promise that they don't do it by IP address. IP addresses change constantly, every time that you enter a new network or even everything you log on with dialup you have a different IP address.
DV has about 40 different IP addresses recorded for you.
It's not illegal. It's the free trial version.
No, but tricking it into thinking that the trial period isn't up when it is is illegal.
Still it doesn't matter because I promise it's not done by IP addresses.

it's determined by your ISP
Just googled it, and it's got a windows client program
chances are it's logging it's usage in the windows registry
if you're comfortable doing it, just alter the registry
having said that, it may be sending the info to their servers
in which case you're out of luck trying to change your bandwidth usage

Is there a windows P2P that can connect to Frostwire? It's mostly Mac people so everything is H.264 encoded, which is the highest quality. What show is it, some shows have websites with their episodes like South Park.
limewire & frostwire are java apps (so x-platform)
It's Heroes, but I can't watch it on the official site, because I'm not from the USA.
Just torrent it. Delete episode when you're done. Rinse repeat.
Do you have a dynamic IP? If so, yeah you can change it.
How else could they be doing it? I can't think of a way, but i'm no tcp/ip expert.Quote:

It could be done by MAC-IP address, though that's unlikely. I'm guessing it's either information stored in windows registry. OP said that he can't make a new account, and if that's done on a website, it's most definitely IP.Quote:

It can't be; that information is only available with physical access to the machine (short of hacking). Unless you had to install some software to access this. But certainly over a standard browser connection you cannot get someone's MAC address.Quote:

You are supposed to register on a website, then download the executable. It gets you to a log in screen, but there is no option to create a new account. And it knows that I am me (it remembers my account info)Quote:

Almost all programs store stuff in the windows registry. Programs also tend to store all kinds of information hidden away in various files, which is why for instance program trials still remain expired after deleting and reinstalling them, and will continue to do so until the disk is formatted and/or windows is reinstalled. Windows is also notoriously bad at doing clean uninstalls.Quote:

I couldn't say what the program is doing, since I don't understand it's purpose, but it's certainly possibly (and probable) it's sending some kind of identifying information.
Have you tried Hulu.com? They have most major networks' shows, and to my knowledge it's legal. As an added bonus, it's free and there is no limit.

It's been several years now since my computer geek days, but hostname might be a possibility. I used to run a M.U.D. back in the day (yeah.......) and I would regularly ban by hostname rather than IP address as they were somewhat less susceptible to change.Quote:

It is almost certainly done by Windows Registry alterations brought about by the client-end software. That's how most of the free trial software I've seen usually works.
During the installation process I could see what the installer was doing. It was changing a file called system32, which is probably so important your computer can't live without it.Quote:

In some cases servers pick up that you're coming from a Tor server, in which case you can flush the network to get a different server.
You can also try the many webproxies available such as anonymouse, searching google for "myspace proxy" should get you plenty.
You may have problems now that you've installed software from the site, theres many ways round that however if it comes to it.
