Tell me why I get a sore throat...

from being around loud explosions like fireworks.

      Maybe it's from the vibrations?

Were you really close? You might have inhaled some kind of explosive residue.

Or you have some kind of bacteria/virus and it was just random chance you happened to be with fireworks when it decided to attack.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with sound waves. Both my throat and chest hurt at the same time one went off.

      Explanation?

I'm not sure how loud explosions would cause a sore throat. Is it possible there is a third variable causing both of these? E.g., setting off fireworks on the 4th of July obviously causes explosions, but also causes a sore throat from the summer heat. That is just an (admittedly weak) example off the top of my head; the point is that I suspect that the two are indirectly related.

I was a little kid (around 6 or 7) when this happened and I asked my mom and she didn't know. It happens rarely now, since I'm never around fireworks. The feeling feels different than a typical sore throat. It's hard to describe.

But yeah I know 9/10 of you aren't doctors...
