Tell me about Shotokan
Hi,
Does anyone reading practice shotokan karate or other martial arts? I know there'll be other similar threads but this is specific to a certain form of karate.
I recently started up again, with the intention of practising for health.
Edit - please tell me about why you do it. Do you practice for a certain reason? How long have you practiced?

I think Ninja does some form of Karate.

I practiced shotokan karate this year and made to the red belt. I only can tell it's really good to learn discipline and concentration, because you always can improve something. I went in some championships but I don't like that part that much, although I gained 3 medals. I had really cool couple training with me, I think this was the best part of it. The only bad part is that if you train lots of time (3+ years) your knees can pain a bit here and there, but not too much serious.
But as you are practicing for health I suggest you looking for Tai chi chuan, which focus both body and mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tai_chi_chuan

Tai chi is a very good martial art. It can help with mental/physical stress, and teach you a very unique form of self defence. Here is a really good website, the webmaster is my instructor. http://www.taichicentral.com/
