Easiest and Fastest Way to Become Lucid?

Hi!

I've only just started trying to become lucid, so I have no fixed schedule yet. I've been performing RCs throughout the day (biting, holding my nose and putting my finger through my hand), and I can recall at least one dream where I failed a reality check (although I woke up before I became lucid).

Now, my question is what is the easiest and fastest way to become lucid? I have to wake up at 7am on weekdays (though not at the moment, thanks to Summer Holiday, which is why I'm trying so hard now), and I often have quite a lot of homework to do. I would like to know when the best time would be to go to bed, and what the best method of LDing would be.

From what I've read, it seems like DILDs are the best route to take, because I don't want to interrupt my sleep very much, because I need it to be focused in the day. However, MILD sounds like another simple way to LD without using much time.

I take a long time to go to sleep, usually from within 15 minutes to half an hour, so I've been using that time for mantras, visualisation and the like. Is there a better way to use this time?

The main reason that I'm asking this is because I know that when you've settled into a schedule, the best thing to do is stick with it. That's why I want the fastest and easiest schedule, because that way I can stick with it.

Read into WBTB(wake back to bed). Basically wakeup 5-6 hours after you go to sleep, and do the things the tutorial tells you to do.

Doesn't that make you feel more tired when you wake up?

If I were you I would stick to DILD. Just RC during the day and keep a dream journal.

In all honesty, Zac. Lucid dreaming isn't something that you can just jump right into.

First, you need to develop dream recall. Having a lucid dream does you no good if you can't remember it. Can you remember at least one dream a night? If so, good. If not, start keeping a dream journal.

Try to read up as much as you can on lucid dreaming. The more you think and read about dreaming and lucidity, the more connections you mind makes to it. The more connections your mind makes to it, the more your subconscious, dreaming self will pick up on it, and eventually you will find yourself thinking about dreaming when you're in a dream, and become lucid.

Do reality checks. Every day. Do a lot of them. Eventually, doing reality checks will slip into your dreams from real life, and voila. Lucidity.

Try listening to some of Ninja's wonderful subliminal tracks. Those really help.

Maybe try taking some supplements, and make sure you take them DAILY. Not just when you remember to. DAILY.

There's no magical way to just POP into lucid dreaming. You need to be patient. Very, very patient. Keep doing all of your lucid dreaming-related activities, on a very daily basis. Persistence is key, my friend.

Are you keeping a Dream Journal, without one it would take a lot longer to learn to lucid dream regularly. A lot of people give up on the journal, but it's easy enough to jot down a few notes every morning when you wake up, and use them to jog your memory later - after school or work.

Yes, I have been keeping a dream journal. One by my bed for jotting down notes whenever I wake up, and then I write down more details on any I remember in My Journal here.

Typically the easiest ways are the slowest and the hardest ways are the fastest.
DILD is easy, but random and slow to become regular. WILD is the complete opposite of easy for most people, but allows you to go directly into a lucid dream.

Read up on the tutorials and pick out a few that may be good for you.

As Moose said it, WILD is hard but once you get the hang of it (seems that some people have to struggle with different techniques and have to spend more time practicing than others) you'll be able to attain lucidity directly and sometimes have even more vivid LD's which are easier to remember. For a beginner, would you recommend just trying to get a DILD first, and then trying the more complex methods, or just starting of WILDing?

Also, can you obtain regular lucid dreams (at least one every 2-3 nights) using WILD or DILD?

BTW, WBTB does not make you tired. I feel feel just as good when I wake up, and also I recommend only stay up for 5-10 minutes.

Ok, well it's quite late, so I'm going to go to sleep now. I've set an alarm for 4:00am (on vibrate, so it doesn't distract me), so I'll just get up, get a drink of water, and I'll come back tomorrow and say how it went.
