Sleep Paralysis - Cant do it !??

so far i think i had maybe one or two moments when i was in Sleep paralysis (when i was hallucinating in my bed) but after reading the WILD method to wake up at 5am i have tried this, I've tried waking up at 4am, 4.30am, 5am (i go to bed around 11-12)... for some reason i cant enter sleep paralysis.. i lay there still for fucking ages and nothing happens (maybe 1-2hours) it just feels like I'm laying in my bed not sleeping, I've tried the Stop-Drop-Roll method, the Timer method but nothing works i think the problem is i cant get into sleep paralysis? please help

You shouldn't look for SP, your first priority is to make sure you're relaxed and comfy enough to fall asleep. You're puttin too much mental thought into it which is why you can't fall asleep. I'm no expert on the subject but I know for a fact that trying to fall asleep is number 1.

Im not, im trying to fall asleep normally but keeping my mind awake to put my body in sleep paralysis... it just seems like FOREVER lieing in there and that im going no where!

You need to try and relax. Don't focus on WILDing, focus on sleeping and relaxing like he said. Don't try to keep your mind awake, it sounds confusing, but you need to WILD by NOT WILDing. I was the same way. I thought about it too much and couldn't even fall asleep. Go to bed earlier too, try 9 or 10. I know it's hard during summer, but keep trying.

do you go slepe 9-10 and wake up at 4 ?

Your problem is that you're consciously looking for sleep paralysis to kick in. This is enough to keep you awake and not reach SP.

You need to lay still with your eyes closed, thinking of nothing, just enjoy the peace in it being dark and quiet. Let your body slow down; feel your breath slow down and your heart rate lower to a relaxed pulse.

Do not force thoughts into your head; Do not force thoughts out of your head. Just lay in the darkness and start to drift into sleep. As images pop up in your mind (dream scenes), do not interact with them too much. These WILL mesmerize you and you will drift into unconsciousness. Stay aware, but do not break the trance the dream scenes start to put you into.

You'll start to feel your senses turn inwards; hearing is the most noticeable one. It will feel like your ears plug and you can hear sounds inside your head. As your awarness and senses turn inwards, keep aware of the situation at hand, but keep a blank mind and let the thoughts keep flowing. Shortly, you'll feel SP set in.

You NEED to be drifting into sleep for SP to onset. It is very difficult to be able to drift on the edge of unconsciousness and not cross it, so you need to practice lots. When you start inducing the trance right, you'll notice you get caught up in dream scenes and the all of a sudden snap out of it. This is you getting mesmerized and snapping out of it; this is good, but keep practicing, trying not to get too entranced by the imagery.

I tried it this morning and this time i tried to sleep but i couldn't even fall asleep? i laid there for 3 hours and went to school drained and frustrated. FUCK.
how do you not think about anything ? can i concentrate on my breathing is that called sleep breathing? (correct me if i'm wrong)

it will take time and practice , its impossible to not think about anything thats monk spec , just focus on 1 thing

okay so ill keep trying, even on school days i dont mind being tired in school...ill focus on my breathing and thats about it ?

Thank you very much. I knew many of these things before. Both my reading DV and by experience but you put it so nicely and as a result today I had my first DILD. Unfortunately it ended when I did RC's. Mixed fingers was acceptable, but hand-through-hand just got me too excited.

Where your advice helped is after this. I woke up and tried WILD and was on the verge but a neighbour started making noise outside the window. What helps is concentrating on the Z vibrations. They change when your senses start to turn inwards but I get excited so I have to refocus a few times.

What is the Z sound? the sound in your ears when its quiet ?

Thats what I meant yup. But zzzzz usally stands for snoring. I dont know any other way to describe the little static noise. Just try focusing on it and nothing else. Try not to let your mind wonder and you'll start feeling SP taking its hold of you although I have yet to fully fall under SP so I'm unable to move but I heard thats not necessary. Sometimes the transition is immediate so you have to be sure to do RC's. But don't do RC's immediately since that might mess up your SP.

Tinnitus?

I guess I'll offer my input too.

To wild you need to balance calmness and focus. In meditation this would be calm-abiding and single pointed focus. If you're too calm and relaxed, you become lax and drift into sleep. If you're too focused on wilding, then you won't sleep. They have to be balanced and the only way to balance them is through practice, as mentioned. Also, the focus is on sleep. There is no point in lying there for hours stressing yourself out and ending your practice the next morning in disappointment. If I were you I'd take a break from trying to wild directly and attempt to go to sleep while observing your shifts in consciousness. Try to be inquisitive about how you're falling asleep without keeping yourself awake. I think that by experiencing these shifts in increments over the course of several night's sleep you'll benefit more than lying there wondering what will happen until you finally quit and roll over in frustration.

okay so i did it this morning, i kept waking up through out the night i woke up at 3am for some reason, and i thought i better go take a piss so i dont have to do it at 5am wakeup, after waking up AGAIN at 4am im like wtf and went back to sleep... then finally woke up at 5am and had to take a piss AGAIN... i went back to bed laid there for about 1 hour still as can be sometimes moving my thumb on my spoon for RC's, (my spoon is my reality check) in my bed it was hot but i thought to my self ill pull through ill just wont move but it got me so frustrated, after antother 10 minutes of the uncomfortable heat i quit... maybe im not relaxed enough? if so how do i get relaxed... (im currently going to bed at 11pm and waking up at 5am) i take no afternoon naps.
