I would like to know the best method for a newbie with a dream journal, really focusing on DILDs and VILDs, as the DILD seems the "easy" way, and i'm a visual person so the VILD probably suits me too.
Thanks in advance :D

I suggest keeping a pen and sheet of paper at your bedside. When you first wake up from a dream, keep your eyes closed and your body still. Just droop one arm off the side of the bed, holding the pen, and begin to write your dreams recalled down. It's speculated that your mind stays in "dream mode" for as long as you're relaxed and staying in bed. You can then fill more details in later, in either a paper dream journal or in the blog DJ system on DV.
Sometimes I make quick sketches on the paper too, if I don't feel like writing at the moment. It helps me remember when I decide to fully recall my dreams.
Oh, i meant i already have a DJ, sorry for that.
I'm looking for betters ways to do the techniques, to give me a better chance of Lucid dreaming.
Ah, okay. :P I'm not sure dream journaling alone will up your chances of having an LD.
Although you could try RCing every time you get out of bed to write your dreams down, and then when you get into bed.
I do the reality checks and stuff, i'm looking to see if there is anything extra i can do, that isn't ordering anything.
Free is good, if not, my budget is... 6 dollars. :help:
That's okay. Most of the expensive online stuff is either bullshit, or a course you could find the equivalent of in a DV tutorial.Quote:

Anyway, keeping a dream journal really does increase your chances of an LD the longer you use it. The key to LD is recall, everything else flows from there. You might also want to check out MILD.
Thanks, I've actually had one MILD before and i didn't really know it was harnessed as freely as it is.
Can you teach me about dream guides? xD
I'd argue the key to lucidity is awareness. Recall can often stem from being more aware of the moment and actively participating in life. Therefore, I suggest paying extra attention to your surroundings and state of mind every time you RC, on top of everything you're already doing, of course.
Hm. Recall does require awareness, I'll grant you that.
I'm abusing italics today.
Do you want to know anything in particular?Quote:

I don't think there's a tutorial, actually. You might want to check out this thread, where people are discussing where they met up with their own DGs. There's usually a few threads going in Beyond Dreaming at any one time.
Dream Guides are just recurring DCs that show up to be helpful. There's a big variation on how they act and how people choose them. The main thing you'll want to work on - on top of recall and awareness - is dream incubation. Cook up a scenario (meeting your dream guide) while you're awake, and think about it until it shows up in your dreams. The MILD technique is similar; you may want to look into that as well.
