Just recently? Are you saying that you have had LD's in the past and that your ability to attain lucidity is going away?
MILD doesn't necessarily work for everyone, even if they strongly "believe" they'll have a lucid dream. As for the RCs, how are you going about them? Simply stopping and doing one every few moments won't cause lucidity. You really have to question if you're dreaming. RCs are just the confirmation; they do nothing to make you aware in a dream.
make sure to rotate and use all sorts of different rc's to avoid them going stale and habitual. i had alot more success when i started to focus on my personal dreamsigns and recurring themes. it would help alot if you described your methods in more detail :)
Its allright, many people go through a "dry spell". Just keep trying, do RC's, try doing different methods of inducing lucid dreams such as the WILD ( my personal favorite).
Also, what kind of meditation are you trying? There are a few different ones, not so vastly different from each other, but what I recommend for lucid dreaming is "One pointed" meditation. Basically, in this type of meditation, you try to keep your focus, awareness on one object or one point. What you want to do with meditation is to increase your awareness of yourself in your day to day tasks. Try to stay aware of what you are doing at all times, dont stop being aware of yourself for even a few minutes. This can lead to a better focus, memory, attention, etc.
The meditation I do, or at least attempt to do, is as follows: I burn some incense, then sit down on the floor. I close my eyes, and try to let my body kinda leave my mind. More so, I try to let my mind drift, but focus on my drifting thoughts. I soon forget about my body, what position I'm sitting in, where my hands are, running nose, and the such. I become totally focused in my thoughts.
Oh, and the RC's? I usually do five finger check, double check the time on a digital clock, and flip on/off light switches. I also taste things I have often and know the taste and feel of, and check if it's off. When I do the checks, I try and believe it is a dream. Like on the clock example; I'll check it, let's say it's 5:37. I look away, then think very hard about the time being different, let's say 8:30. If I look back and it's 8:30, I know it's a dream.
It may take you 5-6 weeks to have a lucid dream but it's worth it, your not going to have one over night. Keep trying!
Lmao, your sig made me crack up!
But yes, I agree with what War says.
I think the first few LDs I had came about when I stopped doing RCs mindlessly and started paying really close attention to where I was, how I'd gotten there and if everything looked normal. I fell out of the habit of RCs and LDing, but I'm back and it's harder than ever. So we're in the same boat.
I think you should take everything people say here into consideration. Having LDs won't be easy, won't happen right away and everything works different for everyone else. It just might take your subconcious longer to figure everything out.
Gotcha. Do what everyone suggests, see what works or feels right, and add a personal "twist".
