Dreams of Having Lucid Dreams?

Last night i had some intricate dreams, 2 of which included: dreaming, realizing i was dreaming and flying etc. etc. and then having a false awakening, telling my friend known as Logol on DV's that i had a lucid last night and then having that dream change, next thing you know be dreaming and become lucid try some random dream control AND FINALLY actually wake up.

Am i simply dreaming of becoming lucid, or becoming lucid (for real) followed by a false awakening that i am fooled by?

I even remember waking from my 'lucid' and writing down DILD in the middle of the night for the morning. Of course that was not on my paper in the morning. I have a feeling that i want to attain lucidity to the point that i get enveloped in the craving hahaha.. These dreams of becoming lucid seem pretty unrealistic, i don't have the same awareness as i usually do while lucid. So what do you think?

Definitely real lucids. Just because you lose the lucidity in FA's doesn't mean that they were not real LD's. Even if you have no grasp on what your waking life is, realizing that you are dreaming is technically lucidity. From my experience, there are many different levels of lucidity in which you might not realize any of the following points even though you know you are dreaming.

- I am asleep in my room right now.
- The DC's around me are not real.
- None of the objects around me are real.
- Nothing can actually do me harm.

Just my opinion on the matter.

I didn't really mean that i did not believe it was considered a lucid just because i had a false awakening, just not a proper one in my opinion. Out of all my lucid dreams so far most of them are at the levels of lucidity including what you mentioned, i am aware of what being lucid is like. But i've had these kinda of whacked out of proportion lucids twice now this week. I like lucids that i am very aware and there is no lapse in consciousness from dream to waking you know? Plus all the dream control that i 'performed' really didn't feel like i was controlling... anyhow haha

Oh also just to add when i wrote down that i realized i was dreaming, to clarify : I dreamed of realizing i was dreaming, not consciously realizing i was dreaming.

Yeah i think it does to a lot of us once in a while, do you remember if you were not having as many lucids at the time when you had this happen?

Hopefully this is just a sign that you are on the right track. The lucid state can be confusing. I had a string of dreams last year where I thought being lucid meant being dead. I would become lucid in a dream, but then assume it was an afterlife. I knew it was a dream, but my befuddled mind just defined "dream" as "afterlife." I somehow got the two ideas intertwined, and my brain couldn't sort it out.

Yeah lol but not really on the right track, i've had lucids before. I think its that i more so just want more really bad, i think if i just calm down a little i'll attain lucidity again :dreaming:

A had my first false awakening last night and it has been submitted as a DJ entry if you care to view it. I experienced a similar lack of control and lucidity. It was definitely different then a typical LD.

This happens to me all of the time. I set my goals before I fall asleep (for example recently I want to try shapeshifting), but in these false lucids I wind up doing some random stuff I don't really even want to do. Like last night I had one of these false lucids and just ran really fast... For no apparent reason. I stabilized the dream and everything but it was all fake :(

So last night another crazy thing happened.

I was having a dream that i was having a 'play war' on this big field with a lot of hills. I went behind a HUGE hill where some people were sitting on chairs. Most of the people soon left and i sat down and became tired in the dream. I was looking at some girl that was there, but with eyes closed ( HI ? ). Soon i see her get up and i feel as if i just did a WILD so i get up, do some reality checks etc.

I am dreaming and lucid, from then on i am excited that i did my first WILD and am lucid till waking. While lucid i know i am asleep, but think i am asleep in the chair at the park. After waking up i think it was a real wild, but then realize it was like a dream-to wild.

Though i attained a lucid in an odd way i personally think that it can be considered a 'real' lucid, felt very real and in control, besides of course thinking i was asleep in a dream i failed to realize was a dream.

What do you think?

Heh, that's the closest I've got to lucid dreaming. Every now and then I have a dream where I fly around, change landscape and do other random stuff and talk about how lucid I am and how awesome is this (in one dream I even tried to post on dreamviews that I've finally became lucid :P). Unfortunately, they are all completely NOT lucid :(

That happened to me also. I had a false awakening from a lucid dream. I was then complaining to a friend about how I wanted to be lucid for longer. I had a good laugh about this when I woke up for real.

This happend to me last night. In my dream I was showing my brother and sister how to become lucid. Then we had a shared lucid dream (still in the dream) but I never realized that I was dreaming the lucid dream. Does that make sense? Also, I never felt that I could do anything I wanted. The only thing we could do was look at birds-eye-views of pretty place. It was lame and I am mad at myself for not realizing that I was dreaming.

In the past, usually when I became lucid, I did not have any idea that I could change the dream. So if there is a monster chasing me and I realize I am dreaming, then I would think to myself something like, "thank god I'm only dreaming and that monster can't hurt me if he catches me" but it would never occur to me that I could just quit running too!

Last night, I dreamt that I was trying to have a WILD. In the dream, I thought I was awake and trying to enter into sleep paralysis. It didn't work, but I wonder if it could. I mean, if I have a dream of having a lucid dream- can I really be lucid in the second dream even though I was not in the first?

One thing that I've learned here is that there are all levels of lucidity and control.

Thats what we need to figure out! In other words what do you think? The first post of this thread (by me) i personally think isnt considered a lucid. BUT the second one which i have reposted below, i personally think gets some credit atleast for a lucid: I was truly awake in my dream. The only aspect of the lucid that goes against the norm of lucidity is the fact that i thought i was truly in the park, not in bed. But in a sense its just like i had a 2nd layer of what is the waking world. Pretty cool. :

Probably more experienced people can give better advice. Although I've become lucid in a fleeting way off and on all my life, it has never lasted long and I've never tried to control a dream except for once- the WILD I had about a week ago. That is the only time that I've ever become completely lucid, intentionally, for any period of time. It felt completely different from dreaming, completely unmistakable. So if you are sure that you were lucid in your dream-within-a-dream, then I don't doubt you.

Here's what I'm thinking. I wonder if this is just a DILD only instead of using a reality check, you are dreaming of doing a WILD. You aren't really doing a WILD of course, you are just dreaming of it and this prompts you to be lucid the same way a reality check would for someone else. I think this is what you meant all along- sorry I'm new to all these terms and still a little amazed that there are so many people talking about all this! :D

Anyway, it sounds really cool. When I had my dream of trying to WILD, I was even chanting to myself "I'm dreaming" "I'm dreaming" just like I did the only time I did it successfully, and yet even though I was saying "I'm dreaming" I didn't realize that I actually was dreaming. :roll:

yeah thats weird you didn't realize! haha whatever.. and yeah i would consider this a dild initiated through the change of a dream scenario by result of a 'fake wild'.
