Yes this is my problem too, I cannot wake up at 4 a.m. i just sleep right past the alarm. Go to the tutorial section and look up the DILD tutorial.
I have the same problem as you, so sorry if I'm not much help.

If you look into the WILD technique you will find that when done succesfully that yopcan enter directly into a lucid dream. Capturing a state of awaress as you fall asleep.

I think I've missed something here, you can't fall into a lucid dream using WILD unless you've slept for 5-6 hours and THEN go to sleep... what've I missed?Quote:

Nope, not necessarily true. Some people are capable of going into a WILD whenever they go to sleep.Quote:

Something you could try is an afternoon nap. It creates a situation similar to the one you would be in if you woke up early in the morning before going back to sleep. If you can manage to nap in the afternoon, then you can try any of the methods that involve waking up in the morning.

Well, yes. The best method might be just really, REALLY wanting a lucid dream. Last week, on 3 consecutive nights I told myself that I really wanted to lucid dream. I didn't repeat it, I just told myself once, but I really meant it. I don't usually have lucid dreams, only a few per month, but 2 out of those 3 nights I had lucid dreams (during the night, not after waking up then going back to sleep)Quote:

So, it's certainly not the most 'solid' method, but if you can try to convince yourself of how great LDs are, and how much you want one, before you go to sleep, then you might find it works. You could try listing all the advantages lucid dreaming has or something.
As Raylin said 5-6 hours is not necessarily true. (WILD) WAKE initated lucid dream. It does not mean any particular time of being awake. It is the frame of mind you are in that is important. Meaning you can lead almost directly from the awake state to a lucid dream state.Quote:

The reason most people sleep five or so hours is to get into a subconscious state. Then by awakening you arouse your conscious state of mind. This alowing both your conscious and subconscious to communicate with each other simultaniously.
A good way to approach this is if If you use HI or hypnigogic imagery. As the images become more vivid and you keep a sense of awareness about yourself, you can enter into a conscious dream.
