What are some things you do when you're doing a reality check?
I do the nose plug RC, look around, question reality and I repeat "I am lucid dreaming tonight". I also try to poke my finger through my hand
Look at my hands, Look at my nose, Nose plug, and sometimes i try to push my finger through my hand.
1. Questionaire- how did i get here? what am i doing? does what im doing make sense? 2. Hands- look at my hands, examine the shape, examine the fingerprints and slowly count how many fingers i have. 3. Nose plug- plug my nose and try to breath. 4. finger through palm- try and put my finger through the palm on my other hand
p.s. its important to remember to assume that you are dreaming when doing reality checks. Dont just mindlessly run through them.
To help me remember and do a reality check, I draw three specific dots onto my right hand. When I see them, I do a nose plug RC. I also look at any handy text and see if it remains stagnant. Then I tell myself that yes, I am awake, but that I will have a lucid dream the next time I'm asleep.
Thanks for all responses. I'm getting tired of counting my fingers, but I still enjoy doing the nose plug and putting my finger through my hand. I'm also going to try attempting to fly by jumping or being pulled into the air, trying to look at and read text - look away- then read it again, and also if available look into a mirror and see myself touching my face (especially because this is also one of my goals, i think it may help with that as well).
Any other suggestions would be great!
I try to push my hand through whatever object is nearest. I do the nose plug thing sometimes too. But my actual lucid dreams have been trigger by me realizing "hey, this can't be real"
Mainly it's the (hand through palm) method but last night I walked up to this guy who was fixing something on the floor and I said, "I must be dreaming if I can do this..." and I punched my fist right through his head and it entered his brain and I pulled it back out and then knew I was lucid. -Chase
The good ol' nose plug.
My RC is invariably a gravity check... if I can jump on top of a house I must be dreaming. This has a downside, however. Last night I became lucid during an alien attack on a city. I thought... this has to be a dream and hopped to the top of a telephone pole. The exhilaration woke me up. Such is life. :(

I do hand through palm which always works for me. My favorite because of ease is writing or drawing on my hand, but that has yet to work for me. I used to just look at my hands, but that one's hard to confirm because usually, in a dream state, you won't realize your hands look weird even if you make yourself look at them. Plus when you look at your hands in real life you don't really know what they would look like had you been asleep. It only worked once for me, my hands looked like they were boiling, because air bubbles starting foaming up all over my skin and it looked like my hands had liquefied.
