Anticipating Reality Checks?
I'm not entirely sure if this has ever been brought up before, or whether it actually works but I'll explain anyway. Last night I had my first Lucid Dream in which I carried out numerous RCs. I must have done about 6 in a dream that lasted 5 minutes tops. I'm pretty sure this was down to being paranoid about losing Lucidity but it helped me realize something.
I know that it is important to question RCs or, in other words, not to do them mindlessly. Instead of this though, could you merely picture the RC failing? I say this because in the dream I first performed the hand RC. As I was already Lucid I expected them to be distorted and they were. But instead of them just being that way it was as if I was warping them intentionally and I could easily bring then back to normal. I also did a lot of text based RCs where I would see if the text would change. Instead of looking away and then back at it though, I expected and almost willed it to be different as I didn't want to realize I was no longer in the dream. Sure enough it worked.
Now I know this is probably down to the fact that in dreams text changed naturally but I really think that part of what happened was down to me wanting it to. So, instead of performing a reality check and then questioning the outcome, could you focus on what would happen if it failed and see if you get that result? Like using dream control as an RC? I don't know if this is already a method, but if it is does that mean you could make many other things RCs by just willing something to happen when you do them?
