Hey, a friend of mine referred me to this site the other day after I couldn't stop talking to everyone of a recent discovery of mine. I've been lucid dreaming, on and off somewhat consistently for 11 years. Over the years, I kept trying to find a way for myself to do this at will.
Anyway, in the past week, I think I finally figured it out and have done it (following a series steps I figured out) every night the past 4 nights.
I haven't done much actual research on lucid dreaming, and I had no idea there was even a forum like this to talk about it- most of the stuff I figured out I just learned by trial and error.
Anyway, this is what I did: I went to sleep early, for a good 4 hours and woke up, and stayed up for about an hour. I went back to bed, not sleepy at all, and lay there with my eyes closed, totally awake. I then began to breath regularly, rapidly and deeply, as if I was exercising. I then imagined a large white outlined box in the black void I saw with my eyes closed. I then imagined myself passing through the box. At this point, I'm completely awake, simply daydreaming this. I then imagine another box coming... and then another, and another, slowly getting rapidly until the speeding white boxes form a tunnel. I do this for a long time until eventually, the white boxes and the tunnel are no long a day dream, but my actual dream. At that point, I pass through the tunnel and enter the dream completely lucid, able to control the scenario, cast of character at will. The one thing I can't control is how these other characters will act. Anyway, these past two nights I've been trying to do things that I heard was not easy to do in dreams. So last night and the night before I sat in front of a mirror and examined my reflection, with strange results each time.
So that's it for now, this method has worked for me every time I tried and I've been lucid dreaming for 4 nights in a row now. Do any of these techniques sound familiar to anyone. I think the breathing and the white box thing might be some kind of self-hypnosis, but I really haven't looked into it. I'm just pumped that I can do this all the time!!
