Things that happen to me before falling asleep

Not sure where this was supposed to go.

I've noticed that the feelings I get before falling asleep.

I've had ear-buds in for some nights, listening to binaural beats and I noticed that the sound will change at some points, like the way I'm hearing it, its hard to explain.

I know that the beats will change over time (get lower) but this is different, sorta like I'm losing some degree of hearing before I fall asleep, but I noticed that if I have a thought, any thought it seems, this state of hearing will go away, it generally only lasts a few seconds, because I think of something, I'm not sure what it is, but I feel as if it could somehow help me with LDing.

Then there's my awareness (or consciousness) that slowly fades, like I'll notice that I'm falling asleep and catch myself (I don't know why) this doesn't seem to happen anymore though, I assume its because of the beats. Its like my mind will go blank and...then I'll just sorta notice and be like "oh I'm falling asleep" then it'll go away and happen again, then I'll just stop caring and go to sleep.

So does this happen to anyone else and could these sensations somehow help me with LDing?

That's very interesting... It's almost as if you're inadvertedly inducing a WILD (wake induced lucid dream).

It sounds like you're experiencing the onset of SP and hypagogia, because the sounds you're hearing become different or quieter. Check WILD out if you haven't yet; it might be a good technique to try out!

I've tried to wild before when trying to nap,usually I'm really tired and I get as close as vibrations, and if I swallow the vibrations go away. But I don't think the things mentioned above happen because I don't have my earbuds in, well the altered sound perception, all I usually hear is some tinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn sound. I don't think I can tell when that changes. The slipping consciousness/awareness stays the same, it's been awhile since I've tried. I don't know anyway to keep myself in this altered sound/blank mind state so some advice would be nice.

Anybody else have anything they'd like to say?
