My third and best Cellphone task alarm technique for easy DEILD.

Last year I started a thread called Your cellphone may already have an deild alarm! It showed how to use the task alarm as your deild alarm. It worked wonders for me and was pretty good, but the alarm could be too jarring to be great. A few month's later I refined this idea to have the task set to vibrate and it was somewhat better, and I thought that was it. Then while at the mall demoing a really nice foot vibration pad at the mall, I got goosebumps while it was on from the obviously sensitive sole of the feet, this gives a nice sorta wavy sensation throughout your whole body, and I kinda pondered right then what if I put that cell task on and slid it under a sock under my foot? It goes without saying anyone you share your bed with will go :roll: But let me say this has got me in two lucid dreams in two nights. It wakes you up and give you goosebumps instantly. It gives a nice vibration throughout your body and seems to me to make the transition happen 10 fold on my old task technique for sure. Give it a try and tell me if it works, I think it'll knock your socks off. And don't get out of bed with your cell in your socks. ;)

I'll try this soon and see how it works. It seems like it'll work wonders. One question though, doesn't this require you to already know your REM periods? And what if you go to bed at a different time, which will shift all your REM periods and thus render the vibration ineffective. Still though, great idea, I really like it.

Ah, I remember that thread! :) This is a good idea, although you don't want the vibrations to be too strong, or the phone too close to you. After all, both tactile and auditory signals can be jarring if they're too strong or loud.

Ya, I'm hit and miss with that, I set one four hours after I go to bed and one 2- 2.5 hours later that makes it fail safe, but might make you tired in the morning. Just act passive after the vibration wakes you, the sock being under the blankets, and being so far away from your ears helps to muffle the sound of the vibrating cell and all that wakes you is vibrations on a very sensitive spot. Edit : I have to admit that puffins pop tart kitten Avatar has me in a trance... Benn watching it pounce for like 10 minutes. Oh crud, I posted this in General lucid discussion, when I meant to post it in Attaining Lucidity whoops! :p

It's great that it's working. Can you elaborate on how you position the phone? Is it in your sock, like you have double layered socks or something? I'm having tough time visualize how is it that you keep the phone against your leg.

I can definitely see this as an efective awakening thing - something vibrating against your body at night!

PS. your phone is in sleep mode as this is happening, right?

I just have it right on the bottom of my foot in the sock, this is an old cell so I'm not planning having my mouth close to it anytime soon. I guess two socks would be better, if you were planing on using it (not sure if that would kill the sensation.) The best spot on the foot is the middle but closer to the heel is good too as both are kinda sensitive to the vibration. Make sure the sock is tight enough it wont just bounce around all over the place, make sure it's firmly on the bottom.

Whoa! I have one of those 300$ smart phones, so I find it hard to imagine stuffing it in a sock each night. Thinking of a way to cheaply do the vibration function, I googled "bluetooth vibrating bracelet" and found these: Bluetooth V1.2 Incoming Call Vibrate Alert Bracelet - Black (60-Hour Standby) [E52660] : BestOfferBuy.com, Buy DVD, Shop for PC accessories, Discount MP3 Players, Bargain Deal for Surveillance Equipment It's 18$! Using a smart phone running Lucid Dreaming App, I think it will be possible to connect such bracelet and wirelessly tell it when to vibrate. If this is indeed an effective technique, I'll look into buying one of these and see if it really works/how easy it is to work with a bracelet like that.

PS. ordered 2 of those, in case quality turns out to be crap, they should arrive in 3 weeks, I'll post results then

Great. Now i can lucid dream at night without waking and pissing off my easy to wake up father.

@ Osmodin You have to know your rem cycle pretty well for it to work, It didn't work last night for me, but then I slept through it, which is another good thing. If your not close to rem, it's not strong enough of a vibration and the noise factor is now all but gone so it won't wake you out of deep sleep. I set Like 3 last night 4 6 7 hours apart and missed them all, I won't lie this is not foolproof, but it seems really good.

This sounds absolutely perfect, and I tried something similar once. I tried going to sleep with my phone in my hand so I could turn off the alarm with minimal movement...unfortunately by the time I found my phone when the alarm went off...it wasn't in my hand.
But I don't think my phone has this option. I have an LG something with Verizon operating system thing. I don't see any tasks or anything.

Yeah its crazy, my phone vibrates, I wake up, and then fall asleep but when I wake up I never remember to lucid dream, I know i could if i wanted though hah

I just found out that my alarm goes for a minute before shutting itself off, so if I have it on vibrate it should be ok.

You could probably use a vibrating watch one with multi alarm settings and set this to go off throughout
the night corresponding with your rem periods.

The vibrating bracelets arrived today, they were quite tricky to pair with the phone. As expected, the quality is rather low, manuals are wrong(2 different kinds) and even the strap sizes are different! But what would you want for 20$ bracelet shipped from overseas?

The good: the bracelets vibrate twice for about a second with a second in between, followed by like 4-5 seconds of silence. This is not quite as customizeable as the cell phone's vibrate function (that one can do morse code). The vibration is still audibly heard due to plastic housing and loose fit. It will probably be a lot less audible when worn at an ankle under sheets.

I'm trying different locations, like my arm or leg to figure out where to put it. I'll probably end up with the bracelet on my ankle.

These vibrate when a phone call comes in (supposedly) and vibrate when the bluetooth connection is broken. So I'm programmatically turning off bluetooth for 15 seconds, then turning it back on (an ugly solution, but it works). This produces 6-8 vibrate sequences while Bluetooth is off. I dont know the long term consequences of turning hardware on and off like that.

I'll try this later tonight as an alternative to regular lucid dreaming reminders and also try it for WILD induction - set the vibration to go off at 8,12,16,20,22,24 minutes, because I fall asleep at around 20 minutes
