Please Read, I feel demoralised...

Sorry if this is way too long, or in the wrong section,. if so please move it.


Okay, well. i'l just start with telling you details. i have been trying to lucid dream since september 2010,. i have had 16 lucid dreams since then to now. Sometimes, i will become confident, and i will lucid dream, but then this 'Confident' (if that is what it is) energy disapears, and leaves me demotivated and dry spelled. i always feel ready to give up, and the only thing holding me on the line is that one strand of belief that says 'Dont Quit' so i dont. but now i am becoming very depressed over it and it is causing me to feel like i cant lucid dream anymore. whenever i do lucid dream, it's not from a technique, i never intentionally had lucid dreams. i had them un-intentionally. but in a way that i slightly slightly very slightly intended to. get what i mean? so i dont know how to 'access' that again. because it was no technique that really made me lucid . i have read posts of subconscious will power (like 'Possibly the key to lucid dreaming?') and i have been trying to connect with my subconscious or superconscious so much that well,. the other day i told it to do something and it did and well then it doesnt. i dont know what is wrong. i did believe i would be able to do something but then i cant. and i do really believe in it and all that :(. i feel on the end of it here. :/ . i dont know what to do, i'm so very very lost. and if you say what my 'technique' is, is a DILD. its not. trust me it never feels like it. and its barely intentional. i try to become motivated again, because confidence and motivation is what gives me the ability to lucid dream i think, but i just cant anymore. i can never gain it. and its driving me down to the ground. I really badly have a passion for lucid dreaming,. I think it's the best thing ever!. i motivated and encouraged 5 people to lucid dream, using great words and pics, but i cant even motivate myself. what do i do? someone please help me... i tried WILD, WBTB, and DEILD,DILD, and MILD. none work. i think i tried them all. i think something inside me says i dont need a technique but more of a 'Confidence' or 'Something' that allows me to have the power to. does that sound strange? . sorry :/ thats how i feel. and i dont even know if it IS confidence. i'm very very scared and afraid i will lose this. and i dont want to. i love it with a ♥ on top. lol. I tried all the 'tricks' to get my subconscious make me lucid dream, but it never really works, and i admit i have a fairly genuine relationship with it. i try everything. i'm so lost. I'v tried taking breaks,. i'v tried to do everything i can, but then even my recall lowers. i'm a very open minded and aware person. i'v tried ADA, reality checks, anything you can think of ,. meditation, normal sleeping. And if you think i'm trying too hard, i'v tried to go easy. still nothing.... So if anyone can help me.... advice me... or motivate me... in any way please please help. I BEG you. I NEED your help. :) it will be greatly appreciated... god i hope people help me.

You just need to have more confidence in your ability. You should use the actor method.

What you want to do is convince yourself you are the world's best lucid dreamer, and that you will have a lucid dream tonight, like you do every night. You need to believe that you can, and truly convince yourself that you can dream.

It's hard to be in a dry spell, but people break out of them. I've yet to have a lucid dream and I've been trying for well since before I joined this site. You just need to relax yourself and not get so stressed over not having lucid dreams. I think that's the issue here; you are afraid you're not going to lucid, so your subconscious takes that as a cue to not lucid dream because you don't believe you can do it.

It'll take time to get out of your dry spell. But believe me, if you just relax and don't stress about it, you can dream again. Anybody can lucid dream, it's just how you go about trying that makes the difference.

I found a different method successful for getting me out of dry spells.

I GAVE UP on lucid dreams but increased my reality checks, meditations and dream journal entries. I did basic WILD inductions every night and afternoon for the process itself, not because I was trying to WILD. Sure, the intent was to WILD but I found myself stuck on a cycle where I would feel disappointed when I didn't LD, get depressed about my inability to do so, and born an unconscious resistance to LDing. I believe you're suffering from the same unconscious resistance and my advice is remove your attachment from successfully having an LD and instead focus on the practice and habits that will increase your chances of having one. Try to relate reality checks to usual habits in your daily routine anyways. For example I do one every time I get out of bed, answer the phone, start my car, etc... Keep a dream journal and record every dream. Don't do it because you want an LD, do it because you want to remember the dream at hand. The fact is you may be LDing a lot more often than you think but must first exercise your dream recall.

I won't lie, it took me much longer than expected. I've been a member of this site for 5 years, I've known of it and used its resources at least two before that. I successfully had my first real WILD around a month ago, but my accidental reality-check LDs have been increasing over time and now I can confidently say while dry spells still come along now and then I can have up to five or six LDs a week sometimes.

I feel for you. I can't say anything that will be very helpful; you seem truly upset by this. I can try and give some comparison. It took me 18 months of trying before I got my first lucid dream. That's a year and a half of literally no results before I got my first breakthrough. You've had more lucid dreams in your ~9 months of trying than I had in my first two years.

Having said that, knowing that you're doing better than someone else isn't much help to you. However, I'd recommend having a break. Take a couple of weeks off without thinking about anything to do with dreaming or lucidity. Give yourself a chance to start again :)

i can't read through long posts without carriage returns, but i get the general sense you are discouraged.

take a deep breath, step back, let your discouragement pass over and out of you. don't stress about DREAMING! stress about school and life and money and work (well, really you shouldn't stress over those things either...) but this is supposed to be fun and path of learning. it is not a competition.

it will take some work and some research and some dedication, but you, just like everyone else in the world dream every night. you too can lucid dream.

and 16 is pretty good for that length of time BTW...

Don't sweat it. You haven't even been at it one year. Sixteen dreams in 9 months is pretty darn good if you are just starting out. If you ever need encouragement, just go back and read some of your favorite dreams. It will remind you how amazing it can be.

I know the feeling. But that feeling is the reason why you aren't lucid dreaming, your not lucid dreaming because you keep stressing out over it. I started lucid dreaming on September 2010 also(and look at my LD count!).
I would say that the best way to lucid dream is to feel that you are a born lucid dreamer, that you are a lucid dreamer with every cell in your body. Just stop worrying and just let it come to you, my lucids started flooding in when I completely let go of the stressed feeling that I wouldn't be able to lucid dream. Oh and one thing I would advise is that you shouldn't go on dream views way too much. Because from all the people saying that lucid dreaming is hard it kinda hypnotizes you into thinking it so. Just let go, and know, that you lucid dream.

You're able to LD without any methods (naturally) for your 16 LDs right..? Hmm..maybe you don't really need a method to LD. Well, just try and make visualization (in a situation form if possible) a habit. Eg: Before sleeping, visualize on a scene of a show you've watched and imagine what would you do if you're in it. Keep asking yourself (your mind) questions..make it 'communicate' with you more often. That's what I'm doing currently, hope this helps. Anyway, all of LDs were unintentional..
