      Sounds before sleep paralysis?

After a failed attempt at sleep paralysis this morning, I noticed something.

I had woken up about 5.5 hours after I went to bed, worked out for about an hour and showered and went back to bed. As I was laying on my back waiting to fall asleep to hopefully end up in sleep paralysis, I noticed that every once in a while I heard a noise. It wasn't coming from outside of my body and it sounded like the sound you hear when you yawn except much more intense. The longer I was in that position the more frequently and louder the noises got. It sounded almost like static once. It just came in unpredictable bursts. This was not subtle by any means

Is this typical before the start of sleep paralysis or an indicator of a sleep paralysis experience to come? The reason why I ask this is because I don't have much experience with sleep paralysis but I would like to know if I'm on the right track.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I can sort of relate. It's like a faint fizzing or static as you said, in your ears. You can almost feel it in your head. I don't think thats related to S.P., it's just a normal body function. You just don't hear it I think because usually it's fairly noisy or there is at least one sound covering it up where ever you are.

It is quite loud and comes in short bursts. I'd definitely notice it if it happened while I was awake. Imagine yawning and multiply the sound that makes by about 4 or 5!

It's not the typical buzzing in your ears which people are able to hear almost all the time. It's much different

Hm... well that does sound related. I can't imagine myself ever having done that. You would want to get more answers from other people, I'm not big on the S.P. department. If you don't get any answers from the people here, I would suggest you actually go and get that checked out, it sounds big. Unless it is S.P. related, in which case you are making progress. If not, maybe you have a tumor. But you never know, may be a good thing.

      Unless it's cancer.

      But it's probably alright!

      Maybe.

Lol. Well it only happens when I do wbtb so I'm assuming it's sleep related and not a terminal disease. Fingers crossed!

It will happen for me always proceeding sleep paralysis in 2- 3 short but obvious waves of the same constant sensation and noise, then a small gap of nothing for a second or two followed by real sleep paralysis, which is way more intimidating and erratic in how it feels and can sound. Sleep paralysis is never the same noise twice and is completely random. Is this something like your experiencing? Cause it's exactly what happens for me. I have no idea why, but think it has something to do with the inner ear.

It happens when your ear drums relax I believe. I knew I had the exact reason a while ago but I forgot.

But the static and rumbling is definitely caused by the eardrum in some way. When you yawn, is that the sound you hear?

No need to check it out, it's completely normal. And your description is very accurate. I use this sensation as a signpost that I can try and induce an OBE. 5.5h sleep followed by a workout / 1h wakefulness is pretty much the best way to incubate this state.

I'm reading more and more now that this is the case. I've had a pretty good idea of how to do it for a while but never got the chance to.

      Thanks

I actually got it last night, along with a kind of cramp feeling when I went into S.P. This was during a DEILD attempt, but for some reason it just wore off. I don't know what to do now if it just wears off.
