can you give me a 101% method of attainin lucidity

I seriously cant attain lucidity!! I mean, i tried WILD, but i end of dozing off to sleep in the relaxation stage. I tried MILD, but i cant visualise anything. I RCed all the time, but i dont seem to do that in my dreams.

i go to sleep everynight hoping and praying that i will lucid in my dream later. But it all come and go too quickly, and before i knew it, i'm awake already. It's extremely frustrating.

My request for you people out there is to tell me your really effective method of becoming a lucid dreamer. It might not even be yours. As long as it's effective, simple and sweet. Lolx. please? I'm dying to lucid...hahax.

Hey I can relate to your feeling, right now I'm having 1-4 lucid dreams a week but they are only lasting 10-40 seconds. I have never really used reality checks they just don't work for me. Using a dream journal would have to be the best technique out there, the more you remember your dreams and reflect on them during the day, the more you are making them part of your life. I know how much it can be a pain in the neck getting straight out of bed doing it. Every morning possible write all your dreams down. After there all written down read through them all 3 times and each time you read through them try to have a mental image of the dream happening inside your head (like your actually accessing that dream memory) If anything new comes to mind which it mite not, write it down.

During the course of the day when your not doing anything just have a think of your dreams like they were things you have done in real life and think of different choices you could of made. The idea is that you want to bring your dreaming life as close to your waking life as much as possible. Sometime in the afternoon just have a re-read of the dreams you had that morning.

Do this for 2 months and I'll pretty much guarantee you success. You will most likely start having lucid dreams in about a month i recon but i've said 2 to be on the save side so try to stick with it that long. It might seem like a long time but once you can do it, it is only up from there. This method will improve your results with all other techniques but the good thing is you will have natural lucid dreams where you will just discover you will be dreaming in a normal dream and become lucid.

Yes do everything Griffon said and include the W.B.T.S method (wake back to sleep). I'll usually wake after 5-6 hours of sleep, record my dreams staying up for 30 minutes to an hour and then fall back to sleep using the M.I.L.D or W.I.L.D. technique. I normally always have a LD or LD's when doing this.

How long have you been trying to LD?

hehe well know that i know this (cuz im also having a little problem having lucid dreams :P )
il try to keep up and hopefully il stick to it long enough to see results :D

i only had 2 LD's but they where great and im hungry for more. Muahahaha :P

Yea I should of added that. doing WBTS gives you so much more dream time. Will help you progress much more quickly particularly if you are doing the journal as existenceisadream suggested while you are awake for the 30 minutes. Don't worry if you can't get back to sleep straight away though some times it takes me 60-90 minutes, I'm just really dodgy at getting to sleep though.

Hey, Griffon, I like your take on the dream journal thing.

I actually tried the dream journal a while back (here) but really didn't understand why writting down my dreams would help. I could see that it's helpful in maybe trying to identify a dream symbol, but since I have one (that I happen to see less of since I've identified it) I figured it (journal) just wasn't going to do anything else for me. Maybe I'll try to get back to it and this time I'll try to "re-live" them in my head throughout the day.

Don't worry. Over my whole life I have had lucid dreams here and there. Yet It has taken me almost a month to get into this seriously and have a lucid dream. Out of that month I have only had 3 nights where I have been lucid. Of which 1 lasted about 3-4 minutes. The other 2 about 15 seconds.

My advice is keep a strong desire, be persistent and consistent.
Do reality checks. (I admit I don't do them hardly at all,but I have reasons for that)

Also wake up in the morning set the alarm early, so you are tired,but not too tired. Then you get a good chance at doing a "wild" and falling asleep easy. Also before you fall asleep tell yourself you must have a lucid dream and order yourself to have one.
so you won't waste your entire night and wake up and think dam it's over. Keep setting your alarm after about 5-8 hours sleep. Every half hour. That way you will get plenty of chances each night to have a lucid dream.

All my lucid dreams so far have been towards the morning after 5 hours sleep.

when you get in a lucid dream. and you will if you dont give up and think about it constantly.
Be aware you have to pay attention and be in the right state of mind so the dream does not fade. You can't think to actively or your brain will wake up. You have to remind yourself constantly that you are dreaming so you don't fall into a normal dream. And you have to pay attention to the scenery so it will not fade....

I have been making that mistake not being able to control the dream enough and I wake up really early and the lucid dream is over because I did not make a good enough effort to maintain it and I am not experienced enough to. but I have a feeling that will soon change I am on the brink of mastering it i can feel it.

Hey Griffin, I really like your take on the Dream Journal method... I keep a journal, but not as accurately as I really should. I've neva thought of using a dream journal as an actual method in itself... I'm kind of in the same boat as Raven... I've tried lots of techniques pretty hard... WILD, WBTB, MILD etc, but so far any lucidity I've had has happened randomly without any real conscious effort on my part...

I think that the part about it that would be the most effective is reading over the dreams during the day adn thinking about them, because it would help to involve me in my dreams and get me thinking about them more. One of the problems I seem to have with convincing myself to do reality checks is taht no matter how hard I convince myself, when I'm asleep my mind jsut blocks all of that thought out and I'm dead to the world - vivid, expansive dreams, but no logic voice telling me to do a reality check.

I think I will try that from now on... keep writing in my journal religiously and vividly, and see what happens... maybe after a week I'll try some WBTB MILD's again, and see how they go after the extra effort. For some people it seems to come easily, unfortunatley for others it's not the case, and so the best way is through hard work...

there's already tons of techniques available, with different results for everyone. Try them, instead of making stupid threads asking stupid questions.

I have my own method, but it is too long to put on this board....if you want it, then PM me! :D

I'd agree with everyone saying WILD; I only had one, but it was very realistic, though only like 2 minutes long...

Another method is to enter directly after a dream...when you wake up from a dream, think about entering it again, it works extremely well if you can remember to do it. It's also really far out being "pulled" into a dream

And this past week, I've kind of got my own crazy method where I catch myself right before falling asleep and manage to enter a dream, no clue how it works, but it does... :)

Not doubting you or anything but ?I'd be really interested in how that works as well becasue that means you would have to jump straight into R.E.M skipping the other sleep periods prior to it.

I honestly have no clue what I did. Two nights in a row, somehow when I was on the verge of sleep, for no reason I thought, "Hey, I'm falling asleep, I can become lucid!" Then I kind of felt pulled into a dream like in a WILD ( I had 1 once...)Those were two of the most realistic lucid dreams I had, but they each only lasted about 20 seconds. It's strange, I know that much. It could have been the middle of the night, but I'm pretty sure my clock registered it in only a short while after I went to slee, although that could have been my imagination... :P I'll try to do it again, and let you know... :)

I'm kind of leary on the sleep pattern we supposedly go through to get to a dreaming state. It used to happen to me a lot where I would fall to sleep become lucid right away and then wake a little afterwards and only 1-10 minutes has gone by. Maybe it's because we can dream even in non REM state but for some reason people don't think we can. Plus when a LD ends and I go into SP and wait a little and go right back into another LD or OBE without consciousness and this exceeds for much more time than a normal REM period.

Yea could be close to an OBE or astral projection, I mean don't jump the gun but if you can,

1. Go to bed
2. Catch your self before you sleep
3. Have Lucid Dream
4. Wake up after lucid dream

Without ever actually loosing consciousness thats pretty damn good.

hmmm....i think we can dream in non-REM state...just that the dreams are much less vivid compared to during the REM state.

That's exactly what happened to me :D

And no...I didn't actually dectect myself falling asleep, it was just spontaneous, out of nowhere.

Whatever I did, I'm still only a beginner, and like the one WILD I had, it'll take forever until I can pull one of these off again (I've tried, no luck)

There really isn't a guarranteed method, you just have to try each one and determine which one works best for you.

I think you probably had an F/A and suddenly realized that u were dreaming or maybe in one of your dreams you just realized it, so you then felt pulled into a new dream as a result of your spontaneous lucidity.

I definitely stick with the journal as my greatest weapon.

If nothing else it well help me remember my dreams which is a treasure in itself.
