This idea first started off as an joke I had in my mind until I noticed there is a slight chance I could make real use of this with proper thought and preperation.
This would be a subform of DILD since it would use outer stimuli of the dream to induce lucidity. I'll just get on with the details.
Introduction:
I'll start with putting the word glitch in terms that will be easy to understand in context of this technique later on: "A glitch is a anomaly in a specific reality/universe which normally couldn't exist under the current given natural laws". Imagine every game as well as dreams being such realities, unlike our current "real reality" bugs can occur in these realities. The types of bugs that occur in dreams and games are however usually of different nature. Hence simply playing games won't suffice to make use of this fact.
Glitches and dream signs can overlap but they're not the same things, a dream sign can be pretty much anything that occurs frequently enough in dreams to be connected to dreams and thus can cause lucidity, it can be something totally normal. A glitch is simply something that doesn't fit the whole picture, some people see for example wrong textures within dreams, or instead of some usually detailed objects just a box appears, these are glitches. If these glitches occur frequently and can be recognized as dream specific, the glitches are already dream signs, which is a good thing. This technique comes into effect when that's not the case and it's purpose is to achieve more glitches in dreams and turn them into dream signs, increasing the chance of DILDs.
Prerequisites:
Except for understanding what a glitch is nothing in particular. Being familiar with games and a few examples of glitches might help a lot though.
Target:
Basically the target is to get your subconscious to more frequently use glitches in dreams as well as making it easier to notice when something is wrong, which would cause lucidity. The idea behind this is that whenever you encounter a glitch it will pull you out of being emmersed in the actual reality (game/dream).
Technique:
Noticing glitches can be done by either awareness and/or reality checks. You could include thoughts about glitches in ADA, try to notice if your surroundings are glitch-free and if they are, understand why. If you do specific RCs, try to look for a moment if you can find something in your surroundings that seems odd or out of place. Try to keep in mind that glitches are under no circumstances something that you could simply acknowledge as being there, since glitches are serious violations of the currently given natural laws that wouldn't occur in the "real reality" (in order to prevent yourself from just passing on upon seeing a glitch), if you'd walk across a floating blue tree in real life you certainly wouldn't just keep walking like nothing happened. If you'd walk across such a tree in a dream and notice it doesn't fit there, you'd probably become lucid.
Obviously it's also necessery to encounter glitches, you should keep glitches in your mind frequent for at least a few days to make your subconsciousness aware of glitches. Think about glitches, play games with glitches or watch videos with glitches. Trying to get a certain concept of glitches into your mind will probably help as well. Imagine what a glitch could look like a few times each day.
