When you guys do reality checks, do you say to yourself "Am I dreaming" or "nope this isn't a dream"?
How can I make the most out of my RCs?
When I'm doing a RC, I always asking myself "Am I dreaming? Is this a dream?".
After that I'm thinking, that it isn't a dream, and that's all. ^_^
I use reality checks to confirm that I am or am not dreaming. They are very poor induction techniques. You really should look at Puffin's guide about sporadic awareness and King Yoshi's guide about all day awareness. It's about being aware as to what real life feels like that causes lucidity, not passively counting your fingers or plugging your nose.
When doing your RCs, you want to be 50/50, or on the fence as to whether or not you believe you're dreaming. You don't want to make any assumptions until you do the RC and get a result from it.
That being said, it's more of the mindset done along with the RC that will make you lucid. People do occasionally become lucid from doing an RC, but they are usually aware enough in the first place and realize they are dreaming after doing the RC.
I've read in a couple different guides that it's better to assume you're dreaming every time you do a RC. That way you'll be more skeptical and thorough during your RC. There's no harm in being extra cautious. Just make sure you don't end up like Maud in Inception... Hahaha
