MILD - What are your most successful mantra's?

I'm trying to compile a list of successful mantra's that DreamView's members use. There are so many mantra's and mantra threads here, but it's hard to tell what people have success with, and what they don't. Also, the techniques seem to vary. One hour before bed, while climbing into bed, throughout the day, etc.

Please share your most successful mantra's, and techniques used.

I've only ever used "I will realise I'm dreaming"
Although I have been currently repeating "all day awareness" during the day.
This should be interesting, although I don't believe it's about the sentence, more the intent.

I usually say, "I will lucid dream," or, "I lucid dream."

I haven't tried that yet bit I think your supposed to listen to it before or while going to sleep or wake up in the morning and listen to it before/while going back to sleep.
And I think it's by stephen laberg

Two things that have worked for me.
It may seem weird, but it works!

Before bed, go to the bathroom and look in the mirror.
Repeat this as you walk into the room. "If I see myself in the mirror I will lucid dream."
Therefore, you are setting a mindset that WILL allow you to have a lucid dream.

Now, as you lay down to go to sleep, repeat this mantra:
"I saw myself in the mirror, now I will be lucid in my dream"

It seems funny and simple, but you can make your own mantra by setting something up as I did.

The goal is to trick your brain and blackmail it in a way to force yourself to lucid dream.

Think of your subconscious as a different person, because, well, you can't know what your subconscious is thinking.

Imagine your subconscious like a friend of yours, and you are the devious mastermind who is tricking him!

When I MILD before bed: "I will see my hands in my dreams and realise that I am dreaming"
DEILD to awakenings: "I am aware of when I have woke up and I have closed eyes"
DILD WBTB: "I am aware of when I am dreaming"

Mantras is really useful, but there is no real explaination to why they even work ! It's like magic =)

      Good luck!

No, its not about the mirror. It's about telling your brain that if something happens right now, whatever it is, I will have a lucid dream.

You can change the mantra to anything, as I said.

I do not know if anybody else here has thought of this, but instead of repeating mine mantras in my mind, I just write them. I devised this method because my thoughts often drift uncontrollably at night, making mental mantras and meditation virtually impossible.

Every night, right before I go to bed, I write thirty times on a sheet of paper, "In my dreams, I will become more skeptical of my surroundings. I will recognize an anomaly and become lucid." By the time I am finished, the line is automatically repeating itself over and over again in my mind. Sometimes, if I do not get a lucid, I add at least ten more lines the next night.

I know it may sound incredibly tedious, but since I have been employing this method, almost every single night (or morning) I have had at least one DILD or MILD, be it a short one or a long one.

Anyhow, just thought that might help, for anyone willing to try it.

I might give that a go, I just need some paper and I will try it.

I used to have a mantra, but the reason why I bring it up is because I used to have it. It is still in my head even though I no longer repeat it.
"When I see my hands I realize that I'm dreaming"

Is this mantra any good or does it have grammatical flaws that make is useless, like I hear of?

Try writing it down also as the above poster has suggested. Look at your hands, and do a nose plugging reality check. This way you are forming a MILD technique, as well as a chance to have a DILD by seeing your hands in your dream and then doing a reality check; becoming lucid.

"I lucid dream" or "I'm dreaming." The latter one I use most often as I also combine it with a visualization in which I say the phrase out loud just as I realise I'm dreaming. Both are very effective.

I do not use a mantra as such but visualize seeing a sign that says 'You Are Dreaming' .

Not really for MILD, but "I will wake up at (specific time here)" works wonders for me.

I listened to this and ever since it's been stuck deep in my head.
Mainly the (the next time I am dreaming, I will realize that I am dreaming) part.
It sounds wierd but does the job.
You can also listen to it either before going to bed or wake up in the morning and then listen to it then go back to sleep or while going back to sleep.

I just split my mind up in 2 guys (1 is me and the other one is my sc) and talk with me. Then I tell myself to give me a hint to get lucid and my sc agrees. Works 1 out of 2 nights so far without doing any Reality Checks or other techniques since 1 month...

Well, the dialogue goes something like this: "Hey what's up?" "Nothing really" "I've got a question" "hmm?" "Could you please give me a hint so I can do a RC?" "Alright, sure!" "Great, thanks"
Sounds a bit strange but it works for me...

But isn't that just your conscious mind talking to itself? How does it interact with your sc?

I'm with Arch. It really doesn't matter what exactly you say or do that makes a mantra work. It's about that feeling of certainty you have about your intentions. I know that I don't so much as hear my mantras in my mind as much as feel the emotional content at their core. I'm really concerned about this "magic phrase" mentality that's floating around the LD community. If putting your faith in a certain phrase gets you to that emotional place of assurance, though, go for it. It's just not something that my doubting brain can get behind. What I usually do is construct a mantra in the present tense and eliminate all negation words like "not" or "won't". I built my LD abilities on LaBerge's, "The next time that I am dreaming, I want to remember to recognize that I am dreaming." But I've since changed things around to get rid of the prospective memory bit. "I remember to recognize that I am dreaming." Or sometimes, "I am aware that I am dreaming."

I think I'll stick with "My dreams are vivid" for now. It falls under everyones rules and it's what I want most of all other than an L.D. If you read my previous post you would know my dreams are unfocused and bleary, which I suspect is messing with my ability to identify whether I am dreaming or not.
