This is proving quite difficult

Hi everyone. I've been trying to attain lucidity for quite some time now and I havn't had much luck. I've been focusing on the WILD method lately, but I can't seem to actually get anything to happen. Most of the time when I awake in the night I instantly forget my dreams. If I do remember anything at all it is limited and I forget quickly. I also can't seem to find the motivation to stay up and record the limited amount I have at times. I'm usually so tired that it doesn't seem worth it. Only later when I'm fully awake do I regret not recording my dreams.

How can I remember more, and why is this so difficult? I'm really quite motivated, but in the middle of the night that motivation seems to be absent. The reason I've stuck with the WILD method is because I thought I was making more progress with it.

Hmm I havent been here long but I'll try to help - you are having the same problems I am.

I never set my alarm or used suggestions to wake me up. I actually didnt wake up at all, and waited until I woke up to try to remember. Usually I couldnt remember anything, but later on in the day while I'm doing something I do daily, some pieces of the dream become clear - that is, if the dream was centered around that activity. If you dont feel like getting up, just try to remember them in the morning. If you have the same luck I did, then you will slowly remember more every morning. Maybe you could repeat in your head before you go to sleep "I will remember my dreams in the morning".

I also have been trying WILD's alot. I havent gotten one yet though.
I would recommend pairing a WILD with a WBTB, it will increase the chance you will get a lucid dream. Its in the tutorial part of the website, its quite simple.

I find that if I just remember a little bit of a dream, or even dont remember anytihng, i will just go back to sleep and ofteen have another dream, then start writing the little bit theat I remember down, and as I write it down I start remembering more and more, heck last night I thought I only knew a tiny fraction and I started writing it down, and I ended up knowing 6 dreams.

Juast try to write all you can in your dream journal and youll start rememberring more about that night, and then youll end up remembering more everytime you sleep too.

It's now 7:00am and I've been awakening every 90 minutes by alarm clock hoping to remember at least one dream. Unfortunately, the most I have attained all night is extremely vague "feelings" and not even necessarily any images. I wrote everything possible down in my journal, but I can't believe I don't remember a single dream. Before I fell asleep each time I even repeated to myself "I will remember my dream when I wake," and I visualized getting up and spilling tons into my journal.

I believe there's a strong possibility that knowing I have to take the SAT on Saturday is causing me a lot of stress. Perhaps this anxiety is flooding my brain when I awaken and causing me to forget. I can almost feel a dream, but I can't actually remember anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions for enhancing recall further?

Keeper of the Grove, I'd give it a rest until after your SAT on Saturday since your mind may very well be preoccupied with that. You're doing all the right things so hopefully your recall will improve once the SAT is behind you.

Also.. please try not to stress over remembering your dreams (as this can sometimes make things worse). Simply trust that recall will come (and realize that every night is an opportunity.. and you have many nights ahead of you). :)

I have to agree with everything Clairity said. I wish I could add more, but instead, just re-read her post one more time. :)

Well the SAT is finally out of the way. Granted, there's still other sources of stress, but hopefully the path will be cleared, and I can focus more on my lucid dreaming.
