Discussions in the IRC chat have prompted me to find out exactly how effective the MILD technique is for lucid dreaming. So I ask: How many of your lucid dreams are MILDs?
Not many. Sometimes I will say something before I go to sleep, but normally I trust in my ability to become aware that I'm dreaming.
I don't practice MILD, but I have heard of some great results from it. Naiya wrote a great MILD guide I recommend you check out if you haven't read it already. Anyway, if you are interested in it you should give it a shot! :D
I attribute exactly 97.560975609756097560975609756098% of my lucid dreams to MILD. Everyone one of my lucids, apart from an unexpected WILD has come from MILD.
Every night I write my mantras in my dream journal, lay on my back and sometimes recite them 30 times each. The nights in which I do recite them 30 times are the nights where I have a way higher chance of having a LD, I just get lazy most nights :P
Mantras are wonderful. That is all. :)
I say a montra when going to bed, and (sometimes) visualize. I also do it when I go back to sleep between sleep cycles in the night after writing in my dream journal. I really can't say that I'd contribute any of my lucids to MILD though. Most are very random DILDs, which I'd attribute more to Sporadic Awareness, and All Day Awareness techniques. Then there's a couple of dream sign recognition, and false awakening recognition. But I really don't think I could attribute any toward MILD techniques. Not for lack of trying though. I'm sure it's all combined to increase the frequency, however.
My two which I've found work the best after trying many mantras are:
"I am aware when I am dreaming"
"I attract dreams which help me achieve my goals of lucid dreaming"
So, what I can draw from these replies is: some people only use MILD, and others do not use it at all... everyone is different.
Yep, that's lucid dreaming for you.
Almost all of my deliberate LD's are MILD . The rest are accidental WILDs. However, the bulk are DILD.
I always use mantras after RC and before bed. Also wrote them down in my DJ I keep on my bed - I tend to remember things better when written down. I started to do Sporadic Awareness Technique, but I still do mantras - I really believe in them. My very first LD (MILD/DILD) was on a same day I started to say mantras and do looking at hand and finger/palm RCs. My main mantra is "Everytime I'm dreaming I realise I'm dreaming", and to this I add Stabilise lucidity and Increase clarity now, in hope, that I will remember to say it in my dream.
I don't really practice MILD, but I've probably had a good 10-15 LDs just from confidence, caused by having a lucid the night before.
About 90% of my lucid are MILDs...as to how many total that would be since I started , easily thousands. ;)
I combine ADA with my MILD and I use the saying "Next time I am dreaming, I will realize I am dreaming" While visualizing my ADA throughout that day. Ill also imagine my reality checks I used that day in real life actually working.
About 70% of my dreams I think are MILDs because I realize im dreaming before I do a reality check.
