It's not like I can put my fingers in my nose and act like it's all cool
Let's get one thing straight before we continue.
You do NOT want to stick your fingers up your nose.
Actually, you just want to take your thumb/index finger and squeeze the sides of your nose, blocking airflow. :P If you want to do this and look passive about it, just brush your nose but at the same time, squeeze and try breathing. If you do the finger-count check, just hold up your hand to a bit above waist level and pretend you're looking at your nails, as if you've got a hangnail or something. I'm assuming your school has analog clocks, which can substitute for the digital clock RC. Instead, though, look at all twelve numbers, checking to see if they're in order, and if they change when you look at the clock a second time.
Reality checks shouldn't become too passive though, even if you're just trying to mask them so others don't go "WTF". Acting like they're just casual actions could make you do them more passively, so if you must hide your reality checks, be more diligent with your awareness and skepticism.
your not supposed to put it in your nose, your supposed to pinch your nose, and i do that in school. Make it short and quick and check if your dream. if you dont want to do that in school, Looking at the clock is a good reality check for school
Puffin pretty much covered it all. There is list of reality checks here, and you might find one you can use in school.
I like to visualize my body rising in the air, and I really believe that it's possible. If my body doesn't rise I am awake, if it does I am in a dream! Another good reality check is to look at a piece of paper, look away and imagine all the words changing, and look back. If they changed you are in a dream, if they are the same you are most likely awake. Make sure you are aware while doing reality checks, also. Instead of just doing the reality check look around and ask if everything looks/feels normal. Ask yourself how you go to where you were.
Anyway good luck! :D
Do you recognize the school? Are you in the right class? Do you know the people around you?
well you can just be aware as a reality check. There are other subtle ones you can do, like mentioned
like poking your finger through your hand
I do the usual reality check all the time of pinching your nose. If people ask I just say my nose is itchy. Works all the time.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention-- try poking your finger through your hand. That's the one I always use when I'm in public. It's very discreet. ;)
Jump in the air and if you can fly its a dream. Or go punch your teacher in the face.
