Which is the most used and powerful mantras to induce lucidity?
Most say its different for everyone.
The Heart Suttra
The Buddhist Heart Sutra is arguably beyond anything but pure love.
Alot of them work, mostly "I will Lucid dream tonight". I have a friend that uses a mantra "tonight i will wake up in a dream" he says he gets false awakenings from this and he could become lucid. It is mostly whatever works for you. I also heard something on another thread that says negatives dont work in mantras like "I will not fail at lucid dreaming" will be perceived as "I will fail at lucid dreaming. Im not sure if it is entirely true but i would stay away from it
"Next time I am dreaming, I will realize I'm dreaming"
It brings me better success than I could have ever imagined!
I say it eveytime I wake though too :)
Don't say your manta ... visualize seeing the words.
It should be a positive statement and it should be in present tense. Short and sweet is good. The one recommended by PercyLucid has worked for me:
"I lucid dream."
I also think a longer one can be effective as well. The one from Stephen LaBerge's book is:
"The next time that I am dreaming, I want to remember to recognize that I am dreaming."
Notice how starting with "the next time..." allows you to change the rest of the sentence to be in present tense rather than future tense. I think this mantra can be effective because some of the words have an almost hypnotic effect. "want," "remember," and "recognize" are all words associated with common brain functions and that might to have some significance. Also, the repetition of "I am dreaming" in the mantra also gives it a lyrical quality that sounds like a poem or music.
Mantras are only as powerful as your intent.
The words you believe in the most. But having a mantra that can be visualized at the same time is great. "I'm dreaming" for example. That's what I use and when I say it over and over, I visualize myself saying so in a dream, getting lucid. "I'm dreaming!" kinda.
faceonmars if very correct, to tell ya the truth...My mantras hardly every work if i dont include visualization
The scientific fact that our brains visualize and dream in the same area is , I suggest, knowledge an avid LD'er can use. Spoken mantras require frontal lobe activity that are in direct conflict our natural sleep progression. However, if you think a spoken mantra can help then it will help as confidence is part of the equation. Its all very confusing :panic:
I agree with forceez and faceonmars, intent and visualizing.
Visualization is one of the best ways to induce lucid dreams, try to picture a road sign or something, saying "I am dreaming" or something. (I'm having deja vu right now lulz)
I also find that shorter and more blunt mantras work best for me.
good luck~
