      The "feeling pain" reality check

This never actually worked for me. I remember always hearing about pinching yourself during a dream and if you didn't feel it you were dreaming. I've pinched myself in dreams before and it actually did hurt. (Though, after realizing I was trying to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming I realized I was dreaming ) Is this normal? I can feel everything I could in real life, be it pain, pleasure, being bumped against something..etc..

I remember having a dream something was pounding on my back and then waking up and still feeling it there for a little bit, then turning around and it was gone.

      Yeah.

Yeah. I can feel stuff, and than feel it for a sec. afterwards out of a dream. The reason you can feel pain is usually because you dont know that you cant get hurt in a dream. Tell yourself in your dream that you cant fell pain. Hope this helps ya.
One Lucid dream and hopefully counting!

Dreams mimic real life in terms of sensory perception. As you can see, hear, smell, and taste in dreams, so can you feel, and so can you feel pain. A lot of what you notice using your senses is based around what you expect to notice.

After realising that you're dreaming, you might be able to stop things like pain. When you realise that you're dreaming, you realise that you can have control over the dream, and so you can override the system of what you expect to happen happening.

      So, yeah, it's completely normal.

pain in dreams has been a valued asset for me in my low lucidity dreams all I have to do is hurt myself or cause a physical sensation when I start to black out, then focus on the sensation and usually it keeps me in my dreambody
~I wake up a little more every time I dream.

Sometimes I feel pain while other times I do not. A dog can attack and bite me and I don't feel a thing and I tell myself it won't hurt even when I'm not lucid I just know it won't. Other times somebody can be trying to kill me, they'll stab me and I'll feel it as if it were real. I guess it's a part of convincing yourself that it will hurt or it won't, a thing to do with both lucidity and the way your brain works!

      this.

I find that once I become lucid, there is a difference in how the pain feels, i.e. the pain, no matter how severe, goes away in a few seconds. also, feelings are kinda generalised, say being pinched feels the same as being poked with a pin or something

im guessing it varies from person to person...

Ehh, I've never needed any other RC than pinching my nose and trying to breathe through it, I've never had it fail in a dream that I remember, every other RC seems pointless.

It's tough to bring someone back that never really lived.

I don't know, this kinda makes sense, although very bluntly stated...

i dont know what it is

Like everything in dreams, if you believe it, it will happen.
If you don't, it probably won't.

If you believe it won't hurt when you hit yourself, it wont.

I dont reccomend doing what I did as a pain check last night. YEOWCH.
