Different Lucid Methods and Consistant Failing

I've been trying to lucid dream 6 months and havent gotten one, ive been trying ADA but I never get past a week before i either forget or whenever i do feel to check im taking a test (actually missed a few LDs cause of this habbit.) But i was wondering if a constant 3 weeks of ADA (probably after midterms) doesnt work, if either of these would work or if theres already guides for them.

The first one is making walking a Dreamsign so whenever you're walking alone you automatically are constantly checking to see if its a dream.

The second one is if i could get my subconscious to tell me im in a dream. I've heard people getting into LDs by a DC telling them they were in one, so i was figuring if i tell me mind to wake me up when I dream (thats MILD right?) then i wouldnt have to do any work.

Just wondering, it gets exhausting failing every night. any help is really appreciated.

Yeah, both can work. The tough part in the first one is to remember to do an RC when you walk. That is the same problem that ADA probably gives you. Both can work, and both can fail. The only way to find out if they are effective for you is to try them both out for a few weeks. And yes, a few weeks can be a lot, but the result is worth any amount of time you need to spend on it.

People mistake (me included) that the key to Lding was simple and easy and fun, like lding is. Well it's not. Just because it's a great thing to do and lot's of people can do it and it's full of benefits with almost zero drawbacks that it's nice and fun and easy to actually get one.

Well it's not. Once you learn/discover/are told this then it becomes clearer and easier. People who disagree with me either are naturals or forget what it was like to try to get that first one. It is true that the more you have the easier it is. But by simply saying "it's easy really, you just need to believe" doesn't make it any easier. Sure you can try and believe, but that only get's you so far, and if after 6 months believing hasn't done squat then it won't.

Just know this- lucid dreaming is fun, easy and beneficial. Getting to lucid dream is difficult and sometimes stressful, depending on how you view your attempts. Anyone who says it isn't difficult are clearly past this stage and are in the grace period where ld's come freely. So don't let that get you down, when people say what you are failing at is easy, it isn't.
Giving up makes it impossible, trying harder and more effectively is the best way to improve your odds- don't skimp on methods or give half arsed attempts. Make goals and stay true to them. If you fail even after you tried something at your best, then you need to try something else. Everyone can do this, everyone sleeps. You can't fail forever.

Don´t forget to stay positive also! Every technique has pros and cons, if something doesn´t work for you, let go and try something else. If you tried a lot and still didn´t get a lucid dream, maybe let go for a while, enjoy your regular dreaming, so you can try again later with renewed energy. It´s a shame to get exhausted over something as nice as dreaming!

I would try deep progressive muscle relaxation techniques (there's plenty of free MP3 downloads that will walk you through this) combined with visualization of a good memory, desirable setting or even a recent dream. Sounds like you were concentrating on ADA, which is a very good thing, but yo have not done a lot of MILD. MILD is when you tell your mind to get you lucid. You should also throw some reality checking into the mix. For me, dream signs have never worked, but they may for you. Just be aware, that you may miss an oportunity to become lucid, if your dreamsign doesn't show up in your dream. So i would recommend not associating reality checks just with one activity/dreamsign.

yeah I heard something awhile ago that you dont usually become lucid from a RC, but that you usually notice it's a dream and use a RC to confirm, so you stay aware until you see something that could make it a dream and then you do a RC. Thats what ive been doing anyway.

you mean the one that wrote "nobody can become lucid with just reality checking",well i think i am nobody :D.not no body once but 3 of my lucids where just random RC witch made me lucid.in the other hand and to make this clear,i don't just do reality check but i say "this may be a dream"and reality check may confirm or not,i am not lucid till i RC,not before it.

no i get that, i heard from someone a long time ago (kingyoshi i think), that 90% of his lucids were from realising its a dream and 10% were from RC's

He meant that he does not need the reality check WITHIN THE DREAM to tell he is dreaming, he just randomly realises it. This is because he has good awareness during the day, and RC's are a way of becoming more aware in waking life. You probably read it in his thread on ADA (All Day Awareness).

another thing is that i find WBTB tech a very good back up for DILD as it raises your awerness right before a REM,all of my 5 LD was induced with the help of WBTB

That is exactly right. The only reason I never do that is because I'm combining DEILD and DILD, because I think DEILD will give me more LD's than WBTB on the long run. But both WBTB and DJing help with DILD-type techniques for sure (writing in your DJ at night is already a WBTB :P)

A WBTB is succesful whenever you have succeeded in waking up at night, doing something (a few seconds can be enough) and then going back to sleep. That really is all it takes to raise the odds :P Reconfirming your intentions, doing RCs etc raises them even higher ofcourse, but it is not even necessary. Of course, if you are the type that has a hard time falling back asleep, it may be a bad idea to do WBTB-DILD.
