I would agree that not masturbating increases awareness and memory (for a while), but I don't think I would peg dopamine as being responsible for this. Increased dopamine means increased focus, awareness, and better memory. How can a lack or lower amount of dopamine cause you to exhibit the signs of higher amounts of dopamine? Ignoring the fact that many other hormones and neurotransmitters are involved in masturbation/orgasm, it's not as simple as pegging something to a neurotransmitter because the same neurotransmitter plays different functions in different parts of the brain. There are D1 receptors, D2, D3, D4, and D5. Dopamine plays several roles and causes different behavioral reactions in just the frontal lobe alone. I think it's safe to say the deficits suffered from over-masturbation come from a multitude of factors. That being said, I'm interested in what those factors are.

I didn't understand everything you wrote, but I think it's the roller-coaster effect that is the reason. You get often high on dopamine by masturbating a lot, but then the roller-coaster goes down some time after you've had your dopamine, and the withdrawal is really bad since you're masturbating so often (if the roller-coaster goes up a lot, it also needs to go down a lot to maintain balance. While masturbating, the roller-coaster goes up. While not masturbating, it goes down.) Since you're usually further down than you would if you hadn't been masturbating excessively, you get worse memory than if you didn't because then the roller-coaster would be at a more constant and stable level. That's what I'm thinking, anyway. It seems logical to me. Also, please note that when I say 'you', I'm not actually referring to you, I know of course nothing about your masturbation habits :P And please, just ask if there's something about what I said that's unclear or if there's something you didn't understand.

what the video is saying all your actions and decisions are commanded by your mind seeking the feeling it gets as a result of the brain producing "dopamine" and releasing it in the brain. And its saying the biggest things that trigger the most dopamine which is what humans are after is things like sex and orgasim, extreme sport, adreline rush, food etc etc. Its also saying how if you keep relying on anyone source for dopamine e.g porn, orgasim, masterbation etc it will make the receptors in your brain num and damages the receptors required to recieve the released dopamine, so it only recieves limited amount of dopamine. Theres only 2 ways to get more dopamine at this point. One way is to get more dopamine is to find a new source which is more exciting or makes you happier, e.g you might play video games then when you had enough your sub councious is looking for the next thing which would give it higher level dopamine then playing games, Might be eating food, seeing friends, playing with pet etc. But your sub councious woint go back to video game at least after searchign for a better source. e.g if you masterbate when your done, you woint want to masterbate and urge woint come up for a little while at least, but if suddenly a hot girl came layed next to you could do it straight away and your brain gets triggered cuz it recognises there oppertunity for much higher dopamine release then just masterbation. 2nd option is not to do the activity for some time, depending of how much dopamine you get from the source determines how much time is required for the urge to come up again where the mind seeks dopamine from that source. The higher the reward the less time its required.
So what the other guy is trying to say with masterbation is, that masterbation provides amongst highest possible release of dopamine, so if you masterbate and go to bed LD isnt exactly big on the sub-counciouse mind regardless of how much you want it counciously, so it reduces your chances of success. But if you stop masterbating your mind is desperate for the feeling it gets when dopamine is released, so at that point it recognises LD as a good potential source, where if you have the support of your subcouncious inorder to achieve LD it will significantly increase your chances. i tried it after a drought and it worked will try again tonight, but basically thats the link between the video and LD
Well, I don't think I'm addicted (and I never do it outside of my bed, which is a good sign), but I guess I might as well prove it to myself lol. Even though I already started :P I think it's around day 4 for me now. A trick might be to fall asleep as quikly as possible. Don't give yourself the time to get tempted ;) Even if you guys don't want to stop, taking breaks of a week or more is a good thing. Do it too much and it will start to become painful (and will lead to erection disorders, but that's a different story) Take a break for a week or 2 and it'll be great again. Sorry if I just tempted anyone who promised to stop :P
Masturbating alone obviously isn't as bad as masturbating with porn, but regardless of porn use, if you spend a lot of time masturbating, you'll notice how much "extra" time you get when you abstain from it. I'm at day 10 now, but it's long since I started realising how much time I used to spend masturbating/watching porn.

Only if you are really desperate and can come really easily from very little actual stimulation.

I can testify that it is worth taking a break- You feel better overall, more refreshed in the mornings, more energized, almost more cleaner in a way. My attention goes up I find too. Plus, when you finally do give in, it's much better after 2 weeks then doing it after 2 days. Also, the feeling of wanting it for days is better than recovering from it too.
The main point of not doing it is to basically freshen up your brain- wanking takes a lot out of your brain in terms of whatever chemicals and stuff are used while dreaming. If you stockpile (figure of speech) those chemicals you can have better, longer and probably more sexually inclined dreams than if you kept them at low levels wanking often.
Yes, but I wouldn't view it is a big problem. I've heard that wet dreams can feel seriously good. And it's kind of like porn in your head, meaning you can't get caught ;) But eventually you will have one if you don't masturbate. After all, you keep producing sperm cells, and your body doesn't have the space to keep storing them forever.
I only ever do it before sleep anyway, so I don't think it costs me a lot of time :P But I'm going for it atm. My current goal is until the first wet dream. Have to experience that at least once right?
Why do people say this? Your balls don't fill up with sperm until they explode or just leak semen. They die after a week or so, while still being replaced at a constant rate. You do have a maximum capacity. You produce sperm at a certain constant rate. Once you empty them one night, they fill up again over a few days. Once it's full, that's it.

And, I failed 4 times already, but inspiration from weakamon's thread is getting me pumped up again (lol) and the possibility of being mroe energized refreshed and attentive... It makes sense though that if it's your SOLE source of dopamine then it can create problems, also stopping in that case can cause unwanted widthrawal symptoms. So it's probaly best to have other exciting fun activities to do, music is a big one for me and I'll have to start biking again...
I didn't say they would explode or whatever. But isn't it true that they are made, stored in the balls, and then used if necessary? I thought a wet dream was initiated when you're (almost) out of space.

I never insinuated that you said that, I was pointing out that fact to people in general. I would agree that wet dreams occur more often when you are more conscious of "fuller" balls. You wouldn't have sexually inclined dreams if it was the last thing on your mind, but I doubt the actual amount of semen in your balls actually contributes to your chances. If that was the case, priests could be having wet dreams everynight.

Yeah I've watched those videos, save the last ...3. And I've watched diaries and stuff of porn addicts and even stories of porn stars who were in the biz but quit (very impacting) AT THE TIME... Lol It got me motivated and I didn't play with myself for about 3 weeks, a new PB I think without counting going on holidays, etc. But after that I was just straight back where I was O.o.
