The Old Dry Spell again

I know this is a dead horse, but please chime in if any ideas .


This post below is posted elsewhere but under "Rem Dreamer" topic - i figured many may not read that so repost here.

this is in re: to a Specific type of Dry Spell or Subconscious Block related to Dream Mask. But you dont have to use a Mask to poss solve the poss issue (theres a lot of smart and experienced people here and i am not) . So please chime in if want, specifiacally.... HOW can it work like a Champ , then all of sudden w NO change in protocol (other than " now i know this works") an impenetrable block as described below:

Hi, i have the RemDreamer (new one) . Glad i found this - sorry its a few months later. Was looking for a REM Dreamer specific Forum but cant find one. Hopefully some others with it or Nova mask will chime in as i feal there is a slight difference in Focus when using Masks (ie: more focus on Light Cue training during daytime, etc. as well as less focus on Some of the Multitude [in some ways overwhelming] of techs that those not using Masks are training with .

I would also say there are Disctinct Obstacles w Mask that dont apply w Non Mask Dreamers.

Heres my take on the REM Dreamer. Some wonder if it works---YES. At least sometimes. here is my SAD story. What has Failed is ME, not the MASK. the First 2 times i used it , i had used the time prior to rec'ing it to Train re: Light Anomolies during day. the first night i got it i was excited and put it on and had 1-2 short LDs with no prob, i noticed it only cued me 6-8 times so i adjusted the SENS . The next night i had 10 (!) LDs due the Unit cuing me about 20 times. Most were short 1-5 min's although about 3 were long (for me) about 5-10 mins. these 2 times i wore the Mask at Bedtime vs putting it on later at WBTB. Needless to say i was EXCITED. THEN...... Dont know what happened, i think it is related to what EV (a user here) calls "Hunting mode", i applied his "Non-Induction" methods but failed . this was 1 year ago. I have not been able to had a SINGLE LD since those first 2 nites. Its something in me that is blocking it as the Mask PROVED itself (ie: 10 LDs in 1 night, due to CUES by LEDS-so not Placebo). I am hoping EV or others , esp some using the Mask can offer an Outside opinion as to what my prob is. I try to Relax and act as if not even wearing it, i can get to sleep with it , but there is a subtle Anxiety-Performance vibe that keeps me from Heavy sleep, so when i wear it , i cant drop off to sleep and keep having to add more DELAY to it .

Anyway, i hope MASK users will chime in and we can shoot the idiosyncracies of the MASK around and refine its use and training, as there seems to be no FORUM just for it and not alot on net about it.
i also feel there are NEW , Induction Techniques or refinements , as well as Psyco-Physical training (specific ways to Trick the Mind Body when going to sleep with this on) that needs to be developed around this unit ( perhaps we can START now on these) . Obviously it (REM Dreamer) works, yet the mind can fall into some sort of trap which then Blocks it. Almost seems in my case as if Subconsciously my ego DID NOT LIKE AWARENESS going into the hidden depths and has erected a block, which i feel helpless about (dont know what or how it happened or what to do to remedy it) . i think EV's theories (search "DRY SPELL") are in the ballpark (however i was excited on first 2 uses and it worked great - although i was not yet feeling like "i know this works" - but i dont see how that caused the Psych Block) , but there is a diff when comes to the Mask."


** One big question is HOW DO I FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF THIS DRY SPELL OR BLOCK- the ONLY changes are 1) i KNOW the MASK works and no longer am curious to Find out (as was B4 i tried it) and 2) I now have a subtle Anxiety at bedtime of hoping it goes ok or Pressure to make it happen since going thru trouble of Wearing it, which causes me to SLEEP Light and sabotages the night.

I have had a few LDs in Past year but NOT with the MASK and like Ev says, its usually AFTER a period of LD interest but i have dropped it- let go. But is hard to Drop it when Where the Mask and i hadnt dropped it the 2 times it worked- so confusing and flustwating.

It sounds like your dry spell is just a random unfortunate event. I've had many dry spells before and they do suck, but if you push through it they will eventually end. Several months ago I suddenly went from having 2-3 LDs a week to none from about mid august to late december. During this period I didn't do anything drastic to change my lucid habits, and I just stuck it out. Then, shortly after christmas, I had my first LD in months and felt very energized and dove right into it again.

Actually, I had a small dry spell again for about two weeks not too long ago which ended two nights ago. The only real advice I can give to people suffering dry spells is to just work through it. If you want you can change up your routine a little bit, maybe try a different RC during the day or giving WILD a go. The most important thing however is to just not give up and keep a positive attitidue. LDing is all in the mind to keeping a negative mindset will only hinder your chances of getting lucid.
