Background noise
Has anyone looked into the effectiveness of background noise at fostering lucidity?
I'm new here, but I've got a few lucid dreams under my belt. I hardly ever get as much sleep as I'd like, so I'm always exhausted when I get home. Sometimes I take a little nap. I haven't done enough trials to be sure, but I think that leaving the TV on increases my chances of becoming lucid. It's happened a few times before, and I did it today with incredible success. I had the best lucid dream of my life. I finally flew! After waking, I had the feeling that my mind had been kick-started by the disruption caused by the TV.
Anyway, I'd be interested to know what you guys have found regarding this.

I usually listen to peaceful sounds like Ocean waves ad stuff like that when trying to WILD

I would definitely say it makes you sleep lighter, which you increase the chances of you becoming aware if something slightly louder happening on TV/whatever you are listening to. There is also a method called CAN-WILD, which relies on a brief alarm (auto-deactivating) which wakes you up for a brief second or two while you are still in Sleep Paralysis, get you back into the dream.

This is what I've been wondering, as I've gotten into the habit of putting drone/ambient music on when going to bed (for about an hour before I schedule my computer to turn off). Sometimes I forget to schedule it so I've woken up in the middle of the night confused as to what I can hear - as sometimes the music ventures into some pretty weird shit.
So yeah, I've been wondering if listening to music while asleep would help or hinder lucidity, or even dream recall.
This is the type of music I listen to, if anyone's interested:

Other artists include Stars of the Lid, Johann Johannsson, Ludovico Einaudi, Patrick O'Hearn, Tim Hecker, etc.

Background noise can assist in visualization... try books on tape and visualize the scene or nature sounds and imagine being there. We imagine and we dream in the same area of the human brain. Simple math ;)

These are all interesting ideas. Thanks, guys. I'll definitely report anything new. I'd also be interested to see how moSh's idea pans out.
