Wow! This is weird.....

I just did something really weird last night....

Before I fell asleep in bed I said just once in my head that I would look around, and if my dream seemed "too good to be true" I would check it out. Then I had a nearly lucid.... I'll give the details later on.

Here is what you need to do:

1) NOT master RC's but if you have them mastered that’s good to. The reason I say that you don't have to master RC's, or even practice them much during the day is because, you will only be using them in real life if something seems "too good to be true" (you can also use it for "too bad to be true").

2) Before going to sleep, but when your really drowsy, say this once to yourself, but don't really care much about it (and say it in your head):

I will look around, and if my dream seems "too good to be true" I will check it out.

3) while in your dream, look around and if something seems "too good to be true", like you have the woman or man of your dreams, do a reality check. I find the nose-plugging and see though your eyelid techniques the best ones.... But then again they didn't work for me last night.

This is what happened to me:

When I finally got to sleep, I was in a dream, it was a nice sunny day, and I think I was with my friend (A girl. but I don't like her as a girlfriend, we are just friends). I think the reason this worked is because I want to go over to her house really bad, so I thought it my be "too good to be true", and because I thought this, I stopped walking and tried sticking my tounge through the roof of my mouth, it didn't work...So, I tried seeing through my eyelids, I though it worked for a second, but then I thought "No, it didn't work"......So, I tried the nose plug thing, and this was easily the best. I plugged my nose and tried breathing... I wasn't able to breathe, and then I was, and then I wasn't... So I thought (Now this is the screwed up part) that if I was asleep, I would be able to see through my eyelids of my awake body (this was cool), So I tried opening my eyes to see through my real body, and I saw the gray/black darkness on then back of my eyelids. I didn't want to wake up, so I when back to the dream world....and I can't remember what happened after that. The thing that didn't work were the reality checks.

If anyone has any comments please tell me.

Also if anyone has any suggestions to improve this strange technique, or and better RC's, please share them.

I do a version of this when I wake up after about 6 hrs of sleep. I'll stare at the ceiling to make sure I'm awake, and for about 15 minutes I say many things to myself, such as:
- The next place I'll be will be a dream.
- I'll be lucid in a few minutes.
- Soon I'll be dreaming and I'll be aware.
- I'll recognize the dream-state in a few minutes.
- If I'm not in bed, I'll be dreaming.

Over and over and over. I'll think of lines to say on-the-fly. The point is to drill the fact that I'm about to fall asleep again into REM sleep and I'll be aware of it. THEN, after 15 minutes of doing this, I'll roll over on my side and say over and over "I'm dreaming" white focusing on a imaginary white dot on my forehead, but I won't be as intense about it so that I easily glide into sleep. Concentrating on the white dot lets you keep your attention while you fall asleep.

If I do it right, I'll be standing in a dream scene in a few minutes saying to my self "I'm dreaming." I have success about once a week. Sounds like if you keep it up you'll get better and better at it!

No offence or anything, but I like my method better, cause it's easier, and you don't have to keep repeating something :lol: .

Hmm both sound interesting. I'll have to try nsquareds method before seeing as I'm way too accepting in dreams and I highly doubt I would be able to point out anything thats "too good to be true" However I like the idea of drilling one statement into my mind, just need to repeat one thing, then repeat another. Worked for me when it came to dream recall.

Tonight I've tried a combination of your techniques. It didnt work as intended, but I had a DILD where at least 10 RCs failed! I turned on like 5 lamps and checked digital clock several times... Still, I wasnt sure it was a dream :D

Thats weird.... I havent been able to do my method again :(. Oh, by the way, does anyone have some new RC's? The reason I ask is because I've adapted to mine....
