Does weed have any effect on becoming lucid or dream recall? Thanks.
While weed can give you random day-dreams quite vividly its terrible for attaining lucidity, so no.. It's not recommended
okay thanks, my friend always makes me smoke with him so I was just wondering. I did it yesterday then went to sleep and today I remember NOTHING about what i dreamed of..
Yeah, listen to Darksoul1994... definitely not good for attaining lucidity. I smoke every day and I become lucid usually 2-4 times a week, but I used to become lucid a lot more often before I started smoking again. And when you do become lucid after smoking you should expect to remember much less about waking life and have less self-control... my high lucids are still kind of delirious, even though I know I'm dreaming. It'll hurt any serious progress you're trying to make.
It doesn't really effect me. I smoked a lot in one day and had a weird dream but had normal recall.
Dont. smoke. stupid. assholes. its. illegal. and. bad. for. you.
:cackle:
No, it's not bad for you. This is pretty well known.
I smoke weed every day and I've still had lucids and can usually remember a dream or two every morning. I'm curious what the results would be if I stopped for a while, I assume it would help recall but from personal experience I don't think its too big a problem.
I think it just varies per person. For most people weed diminishes dreams, lots of my friends say they don't remember a single thing when they smoke. I also know a couple people (much more rare) who say that weed makes their dreams more vivid. I also remember more the longer I sleep, I think most of the inhibition on dreams happens in the beginning of the night due to the release of melatonin, so there would be a REM rebound effect if you waited long enough.
Try smoking a bowl and let us know what happens. What works for one person does not necessarily work for everyone ( as most enlightened lucid dreamers know) <- dancing joint?
most people will tell you that it is detrimental to dream recall without even trying it themselves. this is due to studies claiming REM sleep is inhibited by THC.
Speaking from my own experience, smoking a sativa strain of marijuana before bed gave me some incredibly vivid dreams and triggered lucidity. I don't smoke regularly, so this was a once in a while thing, but that was what happened on more than one occasion. your experience may be the complete opposite.
Just leave this here. But I would recommend not smoking it :P.

I can honestly say that I was speaking from my own experience and the experience of friends, but the studies are there too. Like I said though, I think it'll just vary for everybody. Since you brought it up, I do think that the more often you smoke the worse it gets, can't say why.
Potentially interesting side note: Anandamide, one of the endogenous cannabinoids that THC mimicks, actually suppresses REM sleep during the light phase of the light-dark cycle, but increases it during the dark. I wonder when the tests on THC were done? THC is definitely a dream enhancer, there's no doubt about that, it just still hurts recall in most people.
I toke regularly and I can't remember much of anything, but I haven't started a dream journal yet due to some turbulence in my life which is also probably massively effecting my recall. HOWEVER, in my handful of LD's one was induced because I was stoned upon dream entry and automatically knew I was dreaming, it was magical. Sadly, I was (still am) a newb and being stoned didn't really help remind me to stabilize the dream so It fell apart.
I don't really remember if I went to bed high or if the LD itself simulated that, but it was interesting nonetheless. The architecture in it was pretty fantastic compared to my usual dreams.
a little weed may help some people remember how to dream and also come up with new methods to help them dream. it can also help you to access certain states that are more dreamlike, while completely awake which is also good for reconecting. however too much can easily knock out your memory and make your dreams too hazy to become lucid in. less is more for dreaming, but im sure a little would help most people, at least at first anyway. for those who still want to smoke, stopping a few hours before bed will help a lot
Lol, did someone seriously say it's bad for you. I don't know if they're trying to troll or not. But anyways for me it's always hampered dream recall. Although it gives me really fun dreams if I remember them.
Idk for sure, as I began to experiment with dreaming as a way of recreation after quitting smoking weed... I've noticed in the past having awesome dreams when I went to bed high.
Now I notice that I often smoke weed in my dreams, and eventually I should start becoming lucid because of that.
I am not sure what to say?!?! First, what are you thinking using such language!? This looks like a post worthy of a ban, but I will let Ophilia Blue decide on that.
Second, smoking anything is bad for you, by definition. Pot is high in tar and burns very very hot, which leads to inflamed airways and coughing.
I admit that the first post was hostile, but it was not incorrect or a lie. So, why would anyone get up in arms about someone dissing a drug? It is called "protect the stash" as in addicts over react when their own use is questioned,,,, so you are revealing that you are hooked? Lets add seriously habit forming as one reason it is bad for people.
Live and let live, I say. I had a DC once tell me that if it burns ( alcohol, cigs, the sun, jalapenas) it's causes cancer. I don't smoke weed anymore due to my advancing decrapitude but I do remember some fantastic dreams when I did. I don't recall any lucids though. I can say that I had a pint of vodka once and has a fantastic LD ... and a big headache the next morning.
ive found if i wake up during the night, even if ive smoked a whole tree the day before I can still lucid. If I dont wake up during the night, I usually sleep solid and dont remember sheeiiit...
Weed causes REM rebound depending on how much you smoke just like Alcohol does. Bumping old thread
I used to smoke and it seems like it's easier to remember dreams now that I don't. I could then but I had to work harder at it. A lot of times I would be awake for a few hours and see some random object that would remind me of a dream or fragment. I think by the time I was trying to LD though I had quit or drastically cut back so I can't really comment on that aspect of it.
