Dreaming problems
ok, so i know the techniques for LD's, but i'm not sure i am able. last night i was utterly determined to have a lucid dream (mild), but it didnt work and and hour later i realized i was soaked in sweat. when i finally got to sleep, i woke up and had no recall of any dream, no matter how hard i tried. any advice?
i dont drink alcohol
i finished watching TV and using my laptop 2 hours before bed.
I have sleeping problems and take 6mg melatonin every noght.
i frequently reality check in real life
i contantly remind myself for an hour before bed that i will:
1)do reality checks in my dreams.
2)be able to remeber my dreams
and throughout the whole day i build up confidence that i WILL have a lucid dream.
Any help will be really appreciated

Hi Ares222.
Could you be trying too hard?
You could always try a different technique or approach? Perhaps have a short break to relax, then try again to see how you get on.
Perhaps combine your chosen technique(s) with a dream journal to build up your memory and recall skills which should help in the long run.
Ares222. Did you have sleeping problems before you started ever attempting LD?
P.S. We are more likely to remember the majority of dreams in the early morning before getting up as our REM periods are longer. This might explain why you may have had no dream recollection as you woke up shortly after finally dropping off to sleep upon retiring to bed.
The majority of lucid dreams are most likely to take place in early morning REM periods which get longer in duration as the night goes on.
Regards.

i could be trying too hard actually. I do try combining techniques (mild) and if i fall asleep and nothing happens i try deild, but so far i havent really got to sleep properly with Mild, but i have only been trying for a few days though. i wont give up though, since my friend told me of their experiences i have just been determined for it to happen to me.
I have always had sleeping problems, from the age of about 5-6.
i havent really tried the break, and one thing i forgot to mention, when i was trying MILD, before i got all sweaty my arms started to ache.

You could try dedicating two or three days per week, or weekends to practicing LD. I'd say if your arms are aching then you might not be comfortable? Perhaps posture? I'm not sure.
You could try a basic relaxation exercise before retiring to bed. If MILD does keep you awake then you could always try another technique and see how you get on.

maybe you just need more Dream Experience..Per Dream Recall is a must.

Keep a dream journal ( I use a digital recorder... it's easier) . You might want to try combining progressive muscle relaxation while visualizing a relaxing scenario.

Good idea about the relaxation and the relaxing scenario, i was thinking of trying that and i got a very faint dream which i have taken down. I'm glad to see someone had the same idea as me.

How long have you been trying to lucid dream?
-
i think a week is not enough

ive only been trying for about a week and am not expecting instant results, im just wondering what else i could do to increase my chances
